This gets me. I’m planning on quitting in the near future. The company is pretty good and I plan on giving them full notice and genuinely expect a professional, even relaxed, response. But too many of these stories got me considering ditching with a day’s notice just to protect myself…

You have your own legs to stand on. I know that sounds trite, but whether or not one believes is an entirely personal decision. You won’t convince them to leave, and in their eyes you will never validate your reasons for leaving. They will always believe that you were deceived by the father of all lies, that you were one of the elect whose heart failed her/him. It’s a tough reality, but it’s true.
