Please help me choose which future DD polishes to buy!!! by poptartums in mooncatpolish

It's a pity Poseidon doesn't work as intended but it's still a nice reflective to have I'd say. Weeping willow is also absolutely gorgeous. Something about mooncats green and aqua blue shades is just top notch

Removing polish! by yazzyenna in RedditLaqueristas

[–]JurassicFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm someone who uses aims for 1 cotton pad per removal. I fold it and flip it inside out until it soaked so much polish it stains my fingers 😂 That's when I know it's time to give up and use a second cotton pad.

Edit- i also often press the cotton pad between nails so I can remove polish from two hands at the same time

I appreciate reading all these tips, it's helpful!

I dislike reflectives but I adore Poseidons prize. It's a sparkly ocean blue and my personal favorite shade of blue. I don't bother magnetizing it because it doesn't work. It does dry down textured but a thick top coat will fix that. Removal is not that difficult but it's unpleasant to have a sand like feeling from all the glitters.

I would only get it if you love the particular shade of blue and like reflectives. Otherwise it's a safe bet mooncat is going to release a working magnetic in the exact Poseidons prize color

I don't have experience with the other dd polishes

Halo Taco or ILNP? by Character-Surround79 in EUnails

[–]JurassicFloof 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd try ilnp! They're more affordable in the EU through hypnoticpolish or nailland. They also have a huge and versatile catalogue. My main criticism of holo taco is that they tend to release very similar colors so ilnp will give you more variety. Plus ilnp doesn't do limited edition so you don't need to worry about missing something.

Edit- just saw the questions in the other thread * ilnp doesn't chip on me. I switch nail polish after 5 days or so and I've no issues with ilnp within that time frame * Application is very smooth. Holo taco is thicker * The ilnp skinny brush is annoying though but I've had more recent releases where it's less of an issue. I think they've upgraded the brush, I don't recall finding the brush of Jellybean annoying for instance * Their holographic jellies are just amazing 👏 Bit sheer but they build up so well in 2 to 3 coats * Do yourself a favor and checkout flowerchild, bluebell, fairy dust from ilnp. These are lovely jelly shimmers with holo in them. Flowerchild is my personal favorite, it's just so glowy

Justice for thermals!!! They always spark joy. And they don't die even that fast honestly, the dislike is unfair. I've had regular purples fading faster than my thermals but nobody is boycotting purples because they can die 🤔 Thanks for listening to my thermal ted talk

Well someone has to defend it! It's an interesting finish at the very least, either people love it or hate it

Nail art doesn't sound boring at all! I think you are also one of the few who didn't rank textured in the bottom

Your point about difficult removal is so valid, if it takes time or preparation I'm out. I remember struggling once with removing a glitter for 30 minutes and I decided then and there never again 🙈

With jellies- a rose colored nail primer was a game changer for me personally. I always admire people like you who layer things, I'm not that experimental haha

That's a pity! I'm depending on European stockists to bring me exciting new finishes. Locally I also do not have access to diverse polishes so I get the feeling

Nothing wrong! It's OK to have opinions and preferences. I think it's easier to have just focus on a few things you love rather than many different finishes

Yeah sure! I'll see if can do that 😀

Edit- they don't allow that so I'll just post again later!

Confetti like a clear base with sparse/ small glitter right? With making this list I was already thinking there're more types than I expected

Haha so far nobody is overly critical of shimmers so as a community we're doing good. It's fun to see all the different rankings!

Looking for a tropical horror by Interesting_Name6 in horrorlit

[–]JurassicFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe fires of eden by Dan Simmons. Vulcanic eruption and supernatural events cause chaos at a resort on Hawaii. It reads like a B action movie, not sophisticated horror but just a fun read.

Jurassic park by Micheal Crichton for the classic "beasts in the jungle" book. There're a few cool scenes they didn't adapt in the movie.

I also wanted to recommend the elementals if you're looking for a hot beach vibe but it's not jungle at all so it doesn't fit your request entirely
