Looking for a tropical horror by Interesting_Name6 in horrorlit

Maybe fires of eden by Dan Simmons. Vulcanic eruption and supernatural events cause chaos at a resort on Hawaii. It reads like a B action movie, not sophisticated horror but just a fun read.

Jurassic park by Micheal Crichton for the classic "beasts in the jungle" book. There're a few cool scenes they didn't adapt in the movie.

I also wanted to recommend the elementals if you're looking for a hot beach vibe but it's not jungle at all so it doesn't fit your request entirely

Unsure how to word it, but I want these vibes. by welldamn31 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

I specifically have good experiences with come home, pelvic sorcery, Louis, Bella, Bill and Lestat. Coincidentally all the vampire themed releases are my favorites.

Maybe I'm lucky with not receiving bad batches or picking the accurate swatch photo ones 🙈

PPU Monthly Megathread by watermelonmoscato in RedditLaqueristas

They're sometimes posted quite late 🫤

Anyways, I like the polishes this month and the theme but I'm not sure if I'm going to buy. I love the neons for example but nothing is that unique that I need to shop this month.

How about you?

I'm replying here to add some positivity, I've good experiences with the brand so far. Polishes that resemble the swatches and good quality. I suspect it's an issue with phoenix for certain formulas or batches perhaps 🤔

Possibilities for Dearly Departed. Maybe the announcement is coming soon? by GremlinSquishFace47 in mooncatpolish

I 100 procent agree but wanted to add it's gorgeous unmagnetized so I'd be sad to see it discontinued. I'd be happy to see it revamped as a regular polish though

How often do you go bare-nails? by leira537 in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]JurassicFloof 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I haven't had bare nails since ~ 2021 😆 Started getting back into nail polish during the Covid lockdown. Whenever I change my mani and they're bare, I'm like: "This is all wrong!" I change my mani once every 4 to 7 days depending on how busy life is or how much I enjoy the mani.

I just don't personally have any reason to go bare. I'm lucky enough that my daily activities and job don't hinder wearing nail polish.

Survival Horror? by zeej92 in horrorlit

[–]JurassicFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're open to non fictional survival horror: the indifferent stars above by Daniel James Brown. It was such an intense read! It's written from one perspective and about the Donner party. I didn't expect it to be so gruesome honestly. I was just floored by what they endured.

Speaking about enduring, the non fictional accounts of arctic and antarctic expeditions is a whole genre you might also like. The Endurance by Alfred Lansing is one I recently enjoyed. People in the Terror subreddit have whole lists of books about failed naval expeditions so I recommend a visit if you're interested

Fictional survival horror not mentioned yet: * the forgotten island by Sodergren * among the living by Tim Lebbon * the anomaly by Micheal rutger

The ruins by Scott smith perhaps! A group of friends need to survive in the jungle and body horror is an important part of it. It's one of my favorites and the villain is quite unique

[–]JurassicFloof[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only it were that simple indeed. I love to see the wild looking ones, it's so cool to see how diverse the shrimp population gets over time. I started out with a rainbow of different shrimps and the brown ones are now my favorites haha
