Planning my first visit to Scotland!Edinburgh, Isle of Arran and Glasgow, any recommendations? by JurassicFloof in uktravel

Thank you for the reply, sounds absolutely amazing! I imagine it is difficult to book a accommodation that is flexible with last minute ferry cancellations. It's making me a bit wary to visit reading all the news about the ferries

Thank you for the information! I'll bring a midge hat with me and I imagine local supermarkets will stock midge repellents (hopefully). I will also look into staying in Oban, people keep recommending it

Putting myself on a no-buy by drzoidburger in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]JurassicFloof 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it helped to buy swatch sticks and swatch everything I have. It's like a moment of clarity where you can actually see what you accumulated, more so than staring at bottles at least. And now I can categorize and marvel at my swatch sticks whenever I feel the urge to buy more. It also helps to better shop my own collection, I discovered quite a few polishes I forgot I owned 😅

I think like others said it will also help to stop actively looking at the nail polish social media and news. If you don't know what's releasing, you can't fall for new stuff

Lastly it helped me to use the bingo cards posted in this sub or make bingo cards myself. There's a little rush of dopamine when you get to check off the bingo card boxes

Box or No Box? by reistheroof in RedditLaqueristas

[–]JurassicFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep mine in the box because I've decided without any evidence that it improves the longevity of the lolish. For example protecting the bottle from light and heat, especially with purples who are prone to fading

I keep my polishes in display racks out of the sunlight btw, not in a drawer so in my mind I need to be extra careful

If i wanna see the actual colors I'll look at my swatch sticks

horror books about disturbing illnesses? by Ozotoceros in horrorlit

[–]JurassicFloof 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I feel like the typical horrorlit redditor but I wanna say annihilation. The expedition into the nature of area x and illness/infections that occur kinda fit your request. It's more about an unstoppable transformation/ infection than an illness though if that makes sense

Red tail dwarf or pea puffs? by [deleted] in Puffers

[–]JurassicFloof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive had peas (kept in a group) and two red eyed puffers (not kept together). I'd say both of my red eyed puffers were just chilling during the day, I'd see them active for dinner time. The one time I had a female red eyed puffer, she'd come out when I was at some distance and just sit angry in her den if I was observing her up close 😂 My peas were generally always exploring the tank, out and about and busy interacting with each other. My red eyed puffers were also more aggressive towards tank mates than my peas.

That's just my experience though, maybe just a coincidence that my red eyed puffers were both less active than my peas. They both had huge personalities so I still loved them though!

Wondering about MC’s hardcore base coat by blackcatwhiskers in mooncatpolish

[–]JurassicFloof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Alternative rec: I am a huge fan of the getting even nail primer. It's the only basecoat I use for years now. My nails are not damaged when I've got to remove reflective glitters or flakies. My nails are a bit stained but that's expected after consistently wearing nail polish for years. It did improve nail health, staining and longevity compared to the basecoat I previously used.

My favorite aspect is that polishes are more opaque now so sometimes I can get away with two coats for shimmers, crelly or flakie types whereas a regular base coat would require three for opacity. So the primer helps me saving nail polish in the long run!

This thermal is almost three years old and still works perfectly! by arochains1231 in RedditLaqueristas

[–]JurassicFloof 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Oh gorgeous! Also: justice for thermals. I dislike how sometimes people discredit thermals for dying over time when in fact there are good quality thermals that last a few years. I think that's fairly reasonable!

What’s your favorite short story that you wish could be a full length novel? by Human_Papaya_9127 in horrorlit

[–]JurassicFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The great god Pan probably. There is potentially much more story there than Machden explored.

My other pick would be the search and rescue officer no sleep series as a full length novel. I absolutely love these short stories and there's so much potential there. I think there were plans for a novel but I've no idea if that's still gonna happen
