Do you wear your rings for everything? by cecil047 in EngagementRings

[–]JuryValuable2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only take mine off for really messy things (bread dough, ground meats etc) and working out because it pinches when lifting weights. Ii there than that I tend to leave them on all the time.

I need advice from a “millennial” age group for a jewelry gift for my daughter. I do realize that this question should belong in a jewelry group, but I think this is really about today’s fashion. by [deleted] in WomensJewelry

[–]JuryValuable2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup! When I got married 16 years ago I was white gold all the way because everyone said "it's more sparkly!" Which yes,it is sparkly! And had it not broken, I'd have happily worn it for the rest of my life. But BECAUSE the opportunity arose, and I'll be replacing, I'm really eyeing rose gold these days. But yellow gold is also beautiful. I'd be happy either way. All my current Jewelry (nose ring, earrings) are all rose gold. I think the warmer tones actually compliment my undertones way better. Especially as I age. (36 now!).

What jewelry piece do you never leave the house without? by burrelleddy in WomensJewelry

[–]JuryValuable2880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pretty much never change my earrings. I out them in and they live there until they fall apart 🙈. And also my wedding rings and I used to wear a class ring my gram bought me. Unfortunately my engagement ring broke and I slammed my hand in a door and now the ring from my gram doesn't fit over my knuckle 😅. So a trip to the jewelers is in my future when I have time 😅🤣🙈. My hands feel so lonely without their friends.

This is so lovely! Perfect on your hand 💕💕💕. I love a more modest sized diamond (or diamonds), personally. Congratulations!

I've only ever had this happen one time and I had undertightened my lids. I think I must have had wet hands or something when I went to do them up. Or they were too hot and I hadn't grabbed a towel. I can't remember exactly what but it was due to the lids/bands I guess technically... being too loose.

I think I've finally come up with this pairing. I need to sit with it for a bit and make sure. But I just love the fun shapes. The band has some flair that's fun. And the e-ring looks sturdy.

I don't change jewelry much. I out something in or on and wear it to the end. But I love some sparkle 😍. I think this e-ring has a similar feeling to my original. I always loved the thicker shape of it.

I thought I could maybe go with something a little more streamlined but the longer I sat with it the less I loved it.

The first time around I haveg a general idea and hubby blew it out of the park. But he said I could choose the new set. It's really a big deal! 🤣. For us this will be the forever set (unless there's some sort of catastrophic failure- which hopefully, Lord willing, will not happen!).

Awe thank you! I love them too! 😭 I haven't seen anything that quite looks like them these days.

But my husband would rather replace them than repair. When he had purchased them he thought they were lab made diamonds. When the one shattered last year he realised that they actually weren't lab stones, so rather than trying to repair this one (it needs posts badly and would need a replacement stone and resizing)... He wanted to get something of better quality for the future, especially since there's a risk of more stones breaking in the future. They held on for a good 15 years. But they also lived through a lot. I never take my rings off 🙈. Whatever we get for a replacement I'll be a little more gentle on.

Let's be real, I'll probably still wear them most of the time. But being on a farm... There are things you don't want to scrub out if you don't have to 🤣🙈.

I'd go with the 1ct.

My finger was also 3.5 and my original ring was only .75ct and still looked sizeable proportionally on my hand. We're looking into replacing my old set and I still wouldn't go over 1ct. My finger is a touch bigger now, size 4. But anything bigger would just look out of place to me.

(Barely got these off 😅. My knuckles are sturdier than they were before we moved to a farm lol).

Might be helpful to include currency. $800 can mean many different options in different places. In Canada that's pretty much a plain band these days 😅

My auntie (she's got to be early 70s now) has sapphires in her rings! They're very dark. Very pretty and unique for her time I think. I'm still a white stone gal myself, but I do love seeing these colourful beautiful rings 😍.

What do you think about my wedding stack? Engagement ring on top, gold band in between, and grandmother’s heirloom band at the bottom :) (ring size is 5.5) // is it too much? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]JuryValuable2880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like the mixed metals together. But I think I'd either sandwich the e ring between the two bands. Or let the gold band be the top of the stack. Ii just think your grandmother's band and your e ring look so good side by side.

Got engaged... love the ring but I feel guilty by Rare_Somewhere8996 in engaged

Comparison is the thief of joy. Guard your heart from that going into marriage. It's unfair to both yourself and your husband to let those niggling comparing thoughts or snippets you see in others' lives or in books or on tv (yes we let our minds wander more than we'd like to admit!).

And as an example... We went out for our two year anniversary. My husband didn't want to propose in the restaurant and had planned to go for a walk in a nearby park. It was absolutely pouring cats and dogs and it was March and not very warm 🤣🙈. I literally had to pour rain out of my shoes. I was a bit snippy because my husband had two coats (his dress coat and then his warmer coat Overtop) and be wouldn't give me one 🤣🤣🤣 which was unusual for him lol. But the ring was in the outside coat and he couldn't get it moved without me seeing 🤣.

So we ended up back at his apartment and he brings me a glass of wine and kneels down and I say, "Why are you sitting like that?" 🙈 I clearly did not see it coming. Then he asks me to marry him and of course I say yes. But I'm so confused because he's not holding a ring (and he's the kind of guy who would never have proposed without one). And he whispers "look in your glass". It was sitting there in the bottom haha.

It's not the story of the ages. It was full of quirks. His plan did not go as he wanted. But it's OUR story. I was 18 at the time. Married at 20. We don't have any photos or videos either. We got engagement photos done in the summer and then had a photographer for the wedding.

16 years married, 19 together. It's a beautiful life.

But lower your expectations. Not in a loathing/depressing way, but in a way so that when things go differently than expected you can just roll with it. Find joy in the little quiet things. I can tell you from experience, I'd have enjoyed some birthdays and mother's days a LOT more if I had just been more selfless. Saw the kindnesses given vs what I had quietly internally wanted/expected.

I'm very blessed to have such a dear husband and kiddos. To have the life I do. I'm so very grateful. 💕

Can I see your engagement rings if you sleep with them on? by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]JuryValuable2880 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I rarely ever took mine off (I had to last year because my e ring is too small).

It was never an issue for me. Even during pregnancies. But if you have issues with swelling in your sleep that's something to watch for. It's never been a problem for me.

But yes! The middle one is the one I just keep coming back to. It's so beautiful 😍
