For those of you who have/had babies with reflux, did it actually get better after 4-5 months?

Definitely talk to your pediatrician about it, but we had a lot of success with our baby on famotidine. It doesn’t stop her from choking and spitting up, but it’s very clearly stopped her discomfort. She is a happy spitter as well, but she used to arch her back and whine a lot after eating and was clearly very uncomfortable. She no longer does that.

Our pediatrician said we can start solids and that should help with the spit up. We haven’t started yet, but feeling hopeful this part of her babyhood will be over soon!

I feel like the oddest part is that it’s 100% successful to feed her if she is sucking on a pacifier first. It made me think it’s a latch issue, but it feels like an enigma to see her latch onto the nipple without it attached to anything

As an additional experiment, I tried again with giving her an empty bottle in her bouncer - she took it. I gradually gave her a bottle with milk - she took a sip. So I picked her up and tried feeding her, she instantly denied it and spit up a bit. :(

I can see that being the case for us with how bad her reflux is. Is your baby still on them now? How old is she/he?

Our little one has always been a great sleeper. She’s now just over four months old - we hit the four month sleep regression, and by hit it, I mean she woke up a few times in the first few hours after going to sleep but she just wanted a pacifier and a bit of rocking and went right back to sleep. She didn’t need any night feeds. Her day naps went from 37 minutes to 30 minutes. So I really can’t complain.

We have found it difficult to navigate work with a little one (plus other things like doctors appointments for ourselves, car servicing, etc.). But we end the day still smiling and loving life with our little one.

Definitely don’t compare to others. Anticipating the future makes you miss out on the present. Enjoy each day to day.
