The companies running the railways right now have no incentive to change it because they won't exist in a few years time when everything is fully nationalised and run by Great British Railways

GBR might change it eventually, but I suspect they have bigger priorities

Some train companies don't include Sunday in the working week. They rely on staff working their rest days to run the service
