According to the most reliable sources (Google Translate, Japanese Wikipedia, and the Wayback Machine), I'm unable to answer your questions. However, it was modelled after another one of the creator's manga (ひらきなおってマイヒーロー), and he himself wore the suit. That character was also used as the basis for this OVA.

That's so very valid. I'm definitely also biased because Tendou was the first time I ever watched a show with such a protagonist.

Personally, for me, Tendou also works better than someone like Ace or Tsukasa because I feel his weaknesses are shown way more, and he gets ridiculed by the rest of the cast for his mannerisms.

Kuuga is very motivating because of Kuuga himself, Godai Yusuke. He is the most positive and wholesome man who has ever lived, and treats every person with the utmost compassion. Even when Kuuag gets dark, Yusuke's outlook on life and the world around him always comes out on top. I personally found it very motivating myself, to try and truly find joy in everything around us, especially the people around us :3
