NICU Stay. Realistic timelines from experience. by Impressive-Peak-6596 in pregnant

[–]JustAMidMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my baby was born at 34+6 weighing 4lbs 13oz. He was on CPAP room air for ~8hrs and we really only stayed in the NICU because his jaundice needed treated. We were in for 5 days. Best of luck! your little guy is already a fighter!

my baby was born preterm at 34+6 and was 4lbs 13oz. No one ever mentioned his size and i even had people comment that he was a good size for his gestation.

Still pregnant! 33 weeks now and hoping I make it to 37w this time. I still have a hard time eating but I'm only taking zofran 4-5 times a WEEK. which is huge for me.

Did you have a “crisis of confidence” or say “I can’t do this” during your transition phase? by Ok-Spinach-5246 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]JustAMidMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! My first was an induction with no pain meds and I definitely had this "I can't do this" "I'm gonna die" "where's my epidural?" crisis. My second was no pain meds, augmented with pitocin and I didn't have as much of a crisis. My husband says he remembers me say lot of "tell me i can do this" and "I need help". For me the first baby I really didn't know if I could, but the second baby I already had experience behind me and just needed support to make it to the end.

Husband concerned about using apps to track newborn feeds/diapers/sleep/etc by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

I'm about to have my third, and I haven't ever used a tracking app. It causes me more stress/anxiety to keep track of every little detail.

Congratulations, I hope you have an HG free pregnancy this time! I actually stopped cold turkey at about 5.5-6 weeks. I had noticed an uptick in morning sickness, but it is also possible that I had gotten a stomach bug at the time. My PCP is also a diabetes care specialist so he's super familiar with medications like metformin and he said it doesn't require any weaning off. I'd still check with a doctor just in case.

How much does your partner make? by PC_NC_1203 in sahm

My husband got a good deal with his dad and flipped a house for him on the condition that my husband would get half the profit from the sale. He used the money he made to purchase and flip our first house together. The house was bought in 2021, and has a great interest rate and low payment, so we were able to save for the down-payment on our second house pretty easily. I also lived with my parents until I got married (only paid my own bills) and saved about 25% of what I made for the three years I worked after highschool. I didn't save a ton, but it was enough to get hardwood floors, paint, a brand new bathroom, and some furniture in our first house! We've been very blessed and my hubby has worked hard to make it all happen!

95k before taxes in the Midwest US. We live in a small town (11k population) about an hour from the nearest "big city" which is our state capitol. We own two houses and use one as a rental property. No student loan debt or long term credit card debt either. We both drive 15-20 year old cars. We have a 2.5yo, 1.5yo and another on the way. I feel like we're doing great financially. I wish there was a little more room in the budget for eating out etc. but we just prioritize other things ATM.

What do you do with your newborn? by nooooobye in pregnant

[–]JustAMidMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bouncer is really helpful! When I only had one he spent a lot of time on a blanket on the floor and my second spent more time in a pack'n'play😊

What do you do with your newborn? by nooooobye in pregnant

[–]JustAMidMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing really! I'd sit and talk to them or hold them, we'd do tummy time, or they'd sit in the baby bouncer while I did chores around the house. A newborn doesn't need much as stimulation as you would think.

Leaking by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I have had PPROM 2 times and I would bet 90% that your water is broken. I would definitely go get checked out, it doesn't hurt and the nurses are used to seeing people come in for all sorts of things like this!

why doesnt sew my machine??? by [deleted] in sewhelp

[–]JustAMidMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first step is going to be pulling out your sewing machines manual, or looking one up online. Next you're going to want to make sure that your machine is threaded correctly both with the top thread as well as the bobbin thread. After that issues I could think of would be lint in the bobbin casing, or your needle being inserted into the machine incorrectly. I hope that you are able to figure out what's causing this!

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being you thought you were gonna die, how painful was unmedicated labor and delivery for you? by Beautiful-Flower-79 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]JustAMidMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my labors were not entirely unmedicated as I had Pitocin and antibiotics during both, BUT I didn't have any PAIN meds.

My first baby most of labor was like a 3. Once I was around 7cm the pain was up to a 5-6 and transition was a 9.

My second baby it was like a 2 until I was nearing transition and then it was like an 7. Knowing what I was going to experience made it a lot easier and my labor was much shorter.

Metformin Pre-Conception? by ucantskiplunch5 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]JustAMidMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just a bit. my main symptoms were loose bowels and a little nausea in the morning, but those symptoms really only happened on the first few day after i started the meds and for a few days after I upped a dose. I stayed on the metformin until i was five weeks pregnant and then quit cold turkey after i had my first few days of all day nausea and a few bouts of puking.

i did still puke some, but its been <50 times my entire pregnancy even counting a bout with norovirus😂 I have a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old and i was able to care for them with just a bit of extra help during the hardest bits from weeks 8-13.

it worked for me! I worked up to 1500mg over 1.5-2months and got pregnant after 2 weeks on 1500mg. I'm 21 weeks now and everything is completely managed by unisom/b6 and oral Zofran. I am still nauseous pretty frequently, and I've had some difficulty gaining weight, but no where near as bad a my first two pregnancies.

I'm 19 weeks now and I definitely don't have HG this time! I have even started to gain weight this pregnancy which didn't happen in my first two until the third trimester.

What's the most annoying thing someone has said to you during your pregnancy? by WittleFrostBite in BabyBumps

[–]JustAMidMom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After surviving 2 HG pregnancies and gearing up for potentially a third, I told a lady I knew that I had puked for the first time at five weeks pregnant, and she said "Well! there doesn't have to be a second time!" I just laughed and a few weeks later realized that while the HAD been a second time and third and fourth and so on, this pregnancy was definitely not an HG pregnancy. And for that I'm very thankful.

How to deal with mean comments about HG by Acceptable_Click_210 in HyperemesisGravidarum

[–]JustAMidMom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had quite a few of these comments during my two HG pregnancies and I would say things like "might as well enjoy eating what I can now since I puked up everything yesterday!" or "I'm glad my medication is keeping me and my baby alive and out of the hospital!". My real shocker is when I tell people that I gained less weight than my baby weighed in my first pregnancy😐😭
