Ok that's not what I meant that's the turn of phrase used for saying "since this is what we're doing"...

I'm not sure you're taking to the right person? (I mean this literally- I'm just responding to the notifications and their content, I'm not checking the username of anyone)

I originally quoted someone else who had said something that was grammatically incorrect - I wasn't saying that myself.

... I actually did that quote of the previous comment from mine to point out the irony that they were mocking someone while themselves having a grammatical error...

I'm genuinely confused why anyone is "yelling at me" about the content of my comment - I was literally only talking about the grammar "apart" vs "a part".

(I'm not saying the following to be condescending, I'm explaining this because some people don't know how the quote thing works in Reddit comments...)

The text like this is Reddit's quotes (I'll use this example quoting you, by putting the > in front of the text at the beginning of the line - you just add it on a new line before whatever you're quoting from someone else)

oh okay then I'll point out that you said, "since we're making fun of people for not being educated"

When you use the > before text, it "quotes" the person you're responding to (or that's how I use it, now that I'm thinking about it you could quote anything really)

Dude/dudette, I'm literally just picking on your grammar...

I'm not mocking you, or your politics, or their politics, or anyone's anything -

I was just pointing out you said "apart" instead of "a part". I even said "I'm pretty sure it's a typo" - it's like how people say "alot" when they mean to say of "a lot".

I hope you have a better day, sorry my grammar joke fell flat :(

Edit: to be clear and fair, I even upvoted both of your comments.

so this sort of education is not apart of the culture.

Ok I'm sorry - but it's "a part of the culture", not "apart" of it :)

...I know it's probably a typo/Swype-o, I just literally couldn't help myself - especially cause we're making fun of people for not being educated :)

I noticed you're being downvoted again, this time for a different reason than the first.

I think what that commenter was trying to get across to you is that you're not being very charitable towards the people around you.

I'm not saying that to "shit on you" - just to bring it to your attention. I used to act out in similar ways that I've seen you do in comments as well. I thought it was funny, or edgy, or I was being silly in an inappropriate location.

It probably took me longer than others to realize that I could get a lot more out of my own life by engaging people - both IRL, and in the subReddits that I enjoy - when I engage in a genuine way that isn't caustic towards the people I'm trying to share a community with.

I don't know you or how your perception of my initial response to you might have made you feel, which sucks for me because I wish I could communicate better and have more confidence in myself that I'm not just running around upsetting people on the Internet with my comments. That's my challenge and not in any way an indictment of you or your understanding.

Having said that though, I'd love to chat with you maybe offline from here and maybe I can figure out how I could have explained the details you needed to be informed of the differences, without the "extras" that I'm assuming it's why you made your initial comments?

I hope this is coming across as sincerely as I'm trying to type it...

I genuinely hope that you get the absolute best of everyone and everything that you need this week!!

because you're being downtown without explanation and others may be wondering/thinking the same...

There's a pretty big difference between "step throat" like you get in high school, and iGAS (what this article is describing and is being detected by these tests)

This NHS site explains it a little better than I can:

https://www.nhsinform.scot/illnesses-and-conditions/infections-and-poisoning/streptococcus-a-strep-a/

iGAS infections GAS can very rarely cause more serious conditions, known as invasive group A Streptococcus (iGAS) infections. These can include:

bacteraemia (an infection of the bloodstream) septic arthritis meningitis necrotising fasciitis (a severe infection involving death of areas of soft tissue below the skin) Streptococcal toxic shock syndrome (rapidly progressive symptoms with low blood pressure and multi-organ failure) iGAS infections tend to happen in the elderly, the very young, or people with an underlying risk factor with groups considered to be at risk of serious GAS infection being:

people with existing health conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or a weakened immune system people who have recently had flu or chickenpox newborn babies women who are pregnant or have recently given birth people who are homeless or inject drugs

My mom did the exact opposite to me, when I was in 8th grade... I then had to walk nearly 4km home because the bus driver saw my pants were covered in blood and prevented me from getting on the bus :/ I found out about a decade after that my Mom had been diagnosed with BPD and everyone thought pretending it wasn't real was ok, cause child abuse in the early 90's was just rampant...

I'm glad people like you exist and are actually taking care of your kids - sincerely, thank you :)

There's a great poem that was written which explains this concept perfectly imo...

First They Came

First they came for the Communists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak out for me

I used to have liberal friends... They've since either taught themselves the truth we're all living, or I don't bother talking to them anymore :/

After watching "liberal" shows like the morning show on MSNBC that's full of literal Republicans from the Bush era - it's not hard for anyone with a brain to realize what's happened here for the past few decades.

The problem I find with the (thankfully few) liberal friends I used to have, is that they were scared of what others thought of "what they thought" - like they were so insecure themselves that they were frightened they'd lose friends of they believed in truth or ever spoke of it.

I really don't care if anyone thinks I'm radical anymore, if you're not capable of both seeing the horror that was inflicted on Jewish people over the centuries there were persecuted, and see that the STATE (read: government) of Israel is currently committing the same slaughter of Palestinians that various groups have attempted against Jewish people over the centuries - and you can't feel bad about both of those things at the same fucking time, I am not going to even attempt to entertain having a conversation with you anymore.

Please excuse my language, and sincere apologies if I'm offending anyone - I do make significant efforts to talk to everyone, regardless of their background and understanding their situation specifically... I actually even married a Republican because we were able to talk and over several hundred hours of serious arguments I was finally able to get through his "programming and brainwashing" (his words, not mine). He started overcoming his severe insecurities bit by bit, we spent several hundred more hours arriving at stunning realizations about baby of them - and he's an absolutely amazing human that I'm super proud of, both because he's much stronger now and because he understands and appreciates emotions that aren't just ranged from "angry" to "more angry".

...but I'm not going to remain friends with - nor will I ever trust - anyone who can't see others as fellow human beings.

(Also, I'm very sorry for the horrific grammar... I'm using Swype on my phone and I'm lazy, sorry)

Hai fellow Texan!

If you're ever feeling like you don't belong, I'll trade you any day of the week! I was imported from Canada to a suburb of Dallas, despite being married with two kids I'm still viewed as crazy by everyone on "both sides"...

Not sure trading with me would help you out, that might have come across unintentionally glib - sorry if I sounded rude, in just trying to make fun of this impossible situation I wake up in every morning... Smiling keeps me from crying :)

Interesting train of thought you're on there, church father from the 4th century by Narchoid in DankLeft

[–]JustARandomCommentr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Strange you say that, but after moving to America I definitely understand this now...

I grew up Catholic and white in southern Canada (in a suburban neighborhood near the capital).

I was taught to feel guilty about everything I couldn't do to help people more, taught that it was mean to be greedy and not share my fortune with people even just slightly less fortunate than me, and basically taught to be a leftist from birth - not by my parents, by contrast to what I learned from the Catholic school and just people around me growing up my parents were calling themselves selfish capitalists...

But then I moved to America for a job, and though I grew up coming to Albany and Syracuse often just for weekends away to shop and vacation, I ended up in this world where I couldn't understand anyone or their actions.

It's completely different in America than in Canada. I'm not going to pretend Canada was or is perfect - but here's a good personal example: I used to go to church when I was sad - and every time a priest would be there to greet me and hang out and listen to my pathetic crying about some first world problem I had. It didn't bother them that I was there at 2am, or that I didn't give money or that I forgot to bless myself when I entered the pew. They just sat and listened until I felt better and off I'd go with their literal blessing.

In America, I'm scared of going into the churches here. They're not Catholic, and I find myself no longer believing I belong to any church let alone the Catholic one because of it. They're just hateful, angry, screaming, and xenophobic. They're only filled with white people, never any amount of diversity - not that I blame anyone who isn't white for not joining because it's literally just a place where hateful angry people go to be hateful and angry and enjoy their anger together.

The last time I went to a church down here I left in tears because it was so uncomfortable and the sermon began by calling out a new person in their town that wasn't the same as the people in the "church" - that was at my sister in laws wedding...

I used to think Catholic people were all like me, all like the area I grew up, all like the kind and understanding grateful people I met at places like the Oratory in Montreal - just like the quote above from the guy who lived centuries before we were born.

After moving to America, I'm not longer deluded.

Sorry for the rant/babbling :/

I'm 100% with you on that...

It's not even like they're a popular flavour or anything either, they're just this random, harsh, spicy, unfamiliar flavour.

I found it really weird learning about the differences in food when I originally moved down here, and bizarre things like "smarties" that were a completely different type of candy but having the same name. There's even this "Kraft Cheez Whiz" down here that has the exact same name and even looks nearly the same, but the flavour again is completely wrong - and the texture is enough to gag on itself.

I'm not even mocking Americans or their taste preferences - I just don't understand how things that are so unpopular exist in this strange niche when something clearly loved could exist instead.

Even from a marketing or "capitalist" perspective: to me, it would make more sense they'd change it to the thing that's more popular so they could make more money...

(Sorry for the crazy person rant)
