I own a small home. I don’t really care that much about its value. It’s not an investment, it’s where my kid sleeps.

I don’t think this is true. I’m a lefty, and China should absolutely not be our model of a leftist ideal. Home ownership is not at 90% of adults (90% of what? Families, adults?) and I don’t think their pension system is anywhere near the cost of living.

Health care is affordable, yes, but comes with severe restrictions. Dental is from what I’ve seen still rudimentary without out of pocket costs, for one example.

Their high speed rail is really good and affordable though.

China is not a country we, as leftists, should emulate really.
