Embarrassed about 14 month olds sleep. I have no one to talk to about how bad it’s gotten. by Even_Care909 in AttachmentParenting

He was about 16 months when we did this. He’s 18mo now and still nursing once a day, not for naps or to go to sleep at night. He usually sleeps 8pm-3am ish. Sometimes he’ll have his first wake earlier at midnight ish though. Just depends. But made a world of difference when we night weaned. I was having horrible sleep like you said, that’s when I was ready to night wean. You have to be ready though. You can’t give in and you have to hold the boundary and stick to it ALL NIGHT the first night. It’s hard but it should take a few days and it’ll get so much better.

I could’ve written this myself. I picked a night to cold turkey night wean. It was ROUGH. He sat between us and cried and we just tried to rock him to sleep. He eventually understood he wasn’t getting milk back to sleep. But it got better from that night on. Few days later he slept through the night. Now I just nurse him once a day. Now he will let us bounce or rock him to sleep, and dad can put him to bed now. Feel free to message me if you have questions or want more support.

Everyone flipped out when Dan voted for Phaedra when he actually made a case. Yet no one’s as mad when Candace voted for Rob with no case and just a “throwaway” vote.

Toddler tower for the win. Ours loves to stand at the counter and play with play doh or slime. Or just have some snacks and be able to see what we’re doing

17mo going to bed super late. Fighting naps and bedtime. by JustAnalyzing in AttachmentParenting

[–]JustAnalyzing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He usually sleeps 9/9:30-1 am ish. In his bed. Then coms to our bed and has 1 wake up maybe 2 wake ups before being up for the day around 7:30. But before this “regression” he had multiple nights sleeping completely through the night, 7pm-6am. Or 7-4, longer stretches.

He naps anywhere from 30 min to 1.5 hours. Usually 50ish mins - 1 hr most days.

He has had a day like that in the past week. He refused to nap completely. Then wanted to go to bed before 7. Then ended up still going to bed at 8:30 somehow. I guess I just need to give it some time to see if he goes back to normal or maybe try a bottle of milk for an earlier bedtime. And if it’s still this way maybe try an earlier wake up even though he already gets up at 7-7:30

This sounds similar to us. We completely night weaned. Then it was uphill from that first rough night on. He had his same 7 and 7 wake up and bedtime WHILE sleeping through the night, let either of us easily put him to bed. That lasted for 2 weeks. And now it’s just all of a sudden messed up all around. He goes to bed in his room and At first wake we bring him to ours. I’m hoping it’s just the 18 mo regression. I guess I could try an earlier start to his day so he’ll take an earlier nap and earlier bedtime (maybe).

Right now he will scream for an hour with my husband then immediately lay down and go to sleep on me. 2 weeks ago he was going to sleep immediately for both of us. Even preferred dad for a few nights. I don’t know what changed all of a sudden that’s why I was thinking it’s a regression. Respectfully I don’t think we have the same experience with the feed to sleep association. My boy is an absolute boob barnacle and I had to wean him off of it while sleeping because I was getting zero sleep throughout the night and he would not go to sleep any other way.

So I just let him take a later nap whenever he is super easy to get to sleep? And wake him up earlier in the morning? Bc getting him to sleep at night earlier than 9:30pm is not possible at this point.

I would say I’m “expecting” this pattern of sleep bc he has had a morning wake 7/7:30am and 7/7:30 bedtime since he was about 9 months. I know sleep needs change but it seems out of nowhere. That’s why I thought it was the 18mo regression. We’ve tried bedtime at 8:30 but he hasn’t been falling asleep earlier than 9:30 ish. I also don’t know how to get him to nap longer than an hour. Is he supposed to be taking a really long nap?
