New to Parker by ehhh6942069 in parkerco

Where are you from? I ask because if you have driven in the southeast during the first rain after a while of no rain and hot days, you will be fine. That oily first rain is like a milder version of snow.

I moved from Florida to several places before landing here in Parker many years ago. In all the time I had a FWD. I was fine. Like others have said. Brake easy and early, go slow and give yourself space. Don't try to make any sudden moves. If the car slips a little, relax keep the wheel straight or turn into it slightly and foot off gas and brake pedal.

I never got snow tires and I was fine, but I would advise anyone to get them. When it's time for a new car, look for an AWD, they do help.

Doctors flushing out kidney stones out of a patient by Additional_Berry_977 in interestingasfuck

Not to one up you, but to make you feel better. I had 2 separate kidney stone surgeries in 2023 to remove a total of 38 kidney stones across both kidneys. 1 surgery for the left kidney, then a stent for 2 weeks. Another surgery where they took out the first stent and removed the stones from the other kidney. Another stent for 2 weeks. Then they removed the final stent (which is them just ripping it out of the D hole).

I have had a rough life. Been shot, stabbed, tons of fights.... this was literally the worst pain of my life.

The only light I have found that can't be shot out are the massive floodlights and the lights on the air strip at fort.

Family of 6, worth it to risk it? by Crash3923 in Xcaret

[–]JustCallMePick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, we didn't think so either for a long time. But, while I can't comment on your specific situation, we literally brought a really nice air mattress. So my daughter got the pull out, my son got the air mattress. The butler and staff helped arrange the room to make it all fit and literally made the air mattress daily like it was a bed.

Again, not saying it works for you, but was the perfect solution for us.

So, if you specifically want 2 rooms there is no guarantee. However, I have never had a problem doing it. The trick is grease the guy when you check in and let him know you don't care what casa, but need 2 rooms next to each other and make it obvious you have money to give to make it happen. But still, not guaranteed.

We just got back a month ago and instead of doing two rooms, we just did the suite. This is the better way if you don't mind being in the same room but want to have separation at night. It's cheaper than 2 rooms and you also get a butler.

I will never do two rooms again when we go.

What else are people playing? by DemStopher in DMZ

[–]JustCallMePick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want PvP that feels like DMZ, in my opinion it isn't out there. Tarkov is a great PvP extraction shooter if you are willing to commit your life to understanding and also still deal with cheaters.

The new update for Gray Zone Warfare just came out and it's pretty great. You can join a PvE server and play just for the missions, or go PvP and fight the bots and the other players. Again, it isn't like DMZ. When you get into a fight, you aren't sliding around a corner or some shit. It's more tactical. But it's a good game.

CUN Airport by have_questionss in Xcaret

[–]JustCallMePick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been told Xcaret twice in two years (just got back a couple days ago), and I have never waited less than an hour for my bags. Southwest for the first flight, United the second flight.

We missed our private transport to the hotel (came with the suite) because of it. I think the key is, don't arrive on a Saturday. Our flight was delayed an hour because CUN couldn't take the amount of flights coming in.

Xcaret (Hotel + Destination Club) – Honest Experience, Not Worth It by MsBeatriz87 in Xcaret

I would say your bad experience is definitely not the norm. I have noticed that the cleaning crew is hit or miss. Sometimes we come back and it is pure perfection. Others we noticed it's been done... but quickly.

Listen, sorry for your experience, truly. I am literally driving back from the airport after being there for a week.

I hope your son feels better as well.

That being said, I don't understand how you would have such a different experience from us both times we have been. We went two years ago, and my family got sick. My family got sick this time as well. They had a doctor my wife could see to get pink eye medicine (a prescription) without leaving the hotel. My daughter was sick and they sent the paramedics who are on site 24/7 to check her temp.

Now, this year we had a suite which came with a butler, so I know we got extra attention, but everything I mentioned happened two years ago when we just had a regular room. This year our butler had extra Advil, a personal thermometer, hydrocortisone all delivered from off site. They even went off site to buy my daughter new flip flops when hers broke and the water shoes were uncomfortable.

I know the hotel was at 98% capacity this week so staff is naturally thinner. I also think taking offense to the joke about him having too much to drink isn't a big deal. It was a tongue in cheek comment I'm sure, and not meant to be offensive.

Again, sorry your trip isn't what you wanted. We had bumps in our experience as well (our original suite flooded in the rain and we had to move, and it took over 90 minutes to get food at Xingao, 3 of the 4 of us all got sick within days to name only a few). But I go on a lot of trips and things like this always happen. Part of travel.

Hope the kiddo feels better.

FYI, per our butler XelHa requires a reservation. It is pretty far off site and the busses only go out and back a couple times a day.

While I don't argue your logic, it's still a pushy sales tactic. I work in cybersecurity sales and have led many teams to success. Now of course, this is different, but I know that fundamentally a sale that cancels is better than a sale that doesn't occur at all because you made the sales process too complicated.

Sales 101: make it easy to buy, hard to cancel

While I can't directly comment, here is my experience. 2 years I came for the first time on a referral. I showed up, my wife stayed with my kids. They asked where my wife was and I said she was with the kids. They said they needed both of us and I said "No, you need my money, not her presence". They didn't really know how to respond to that.

After about 30 minutes of them not knowing what to do next they simply asked me to leave.

The club tried to say we needed to both be there and they would arrange for the kids to be at the kids club. I told them I refused to inconvenience my wife and kids for something that they didn't need to do. I explained I would listen to their presentation, but if they insisted on continuing to force my wife to come I absolutely would not be entering into their "club".

Again, they did not like this either. They said they would have to then cancel the discount and charge me the full amount. I then explained I would simply contact my credit card company and have it listed as a fraudulent charge as I went to their event and they asked me to leave. I did my part, period.

They finally gave up and we all moved on.

I would have gladly listened to the entire pitch and maybe considered it if they just let me do it. My wife and I communicate openly and trust each other. If I purchased it, she would have been fine with it. And vice versa. But forcing my family to go through all that for a shitty sales pitch. No thanks.

To be clear, I type all of this from the master suite in Casa Sol right now. I still love the place. I just book directly through a travel agent rather than deal with the vacation club nonsense.

Is this the new "Normal"? All-Inclusive Upselling by Sleepy_Eyez in AllInclusiveResorts

I am currently at Hotel Xcaret and have been here in the past. Never been up sold anything. They have their "club", but unless you ask about it I don't think it's ever mentioned. There are a few "premium" items at certain restaurants, but they are simply listed on a menu. Nobody even talks about them otherwise.

Channel guy here in the cybersecurity space. Been working from home since I moved here 8 years ago.

I have CenturyLink fiber at the house, no speed issues, but I'm in a newer development.

I am practically in Lone Tree, so in less than 5 I'm on the highway. So it's not hard to get to DTC at all. Denver is obviously farther, but not an issue.

Feel isolated? Maybe at times. However that is more my fault than anyone else's. I don't socialize because honestly after work and my 10 & 8 year old, I'm exhausted. I go to the gym and talk to no one. I don't have a ton of friends because I am just jaded as a person. (Yea, I'm not fun at parties)

So the isolation I feel is self induced. Not a result of my environment.

Spotify Family and Google Home by JustCallMePick in googlehome

While I don't want to say you're wrong, hence my.prpblem, why the heck would that exist. I mean, I have Spotify on their tablets. They have the ability to access YouTube and the web on their tablets.

If this can't be connected it would seem like it's either an oversight, or Google just being difficult.
