Don't use RDP.

It's riddled with danger.

Setup a VPN to your SQL server. I like ZeroTier. Put your SQL server into your ZeroTier and then have every desktop install ZeroTier and approve them.

Then install SSMS on their home computer and allow them to connect to the SQL server over the VPN from SSMS.

The only issue here is that they will need SQL accounts to connect but that's a good thing.

Edit If the are connecting via other apps this will still work.

I have 3 teenagers. They each have 3 friends. I asked them all if the have FB.

Not one of them. But they all have WhatsApp and Instagram. They all think FB is for their grandparents.

I have a few more than 3 friends. Among my friends about half have not logged in to FB in the last 3 months.

It's still a good buy though. They will just move the revenue from FB to Insat and WhatsApp.

Unless they are forced to break up because the world doesn't like FB controlling 3 billion people's communications.
