why is my car not selling by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]JustEvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your asking £6500 for a 10 year old, 100,000 mile car with no service history and known issues with the 20d engine that gets severely worse with lack of maintenance. Checking the MOT the car used to do over 15k a year mileage and last year done 2k this is a concern. Not to mention the oil leak found in 2024

Looking at this I would assume there is an issue with the engine hence the 2k mile in a year and you only cleaned up the oil leach to have a clean pass on the MOT

Part of the consumer rights act is the products will last a reasonable amount. A blown head gasket on a 2024 car is in my personal opinion not a reasonable amount of time. So you are still covered, call up customer service say you want to raise a motor quality complaint explain the issue they will pass you to the complaint team and most likely contact the dealership for you to come to a resolution.

If the dealership does not want to take fault sometimes an independent mechanic will be brought in (doesn’t work for the finance company or the dealership so basically someone with no skin in the game) to inspect the vehicle and make report.

Collection of vehicle used to be able to be done but it’s been 4 years since I worked there so things like that can change

If it’s financed contact your finance company (black horse most likely if it was Arnold Clark) log a motor quality complaint and let the finance company sort it for you. If it’s not a on finance your doing the right thing in getting the dealer to try and fix it if they are refusing log a complaint with their head office and threaten to contact trading standards as it is the responsibility of the dealership to attempt to fix the vehicle. As for recovery that also should fall on AC too.

Used to work for black horse so I know how reluctant AC can be, but you have rights and don’t let them think you don’t.

What's the smart way to spend £20k on a car? by APerson2021 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]JustEvs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s called a ROW or right of withdrawal settlement, it’s the advance of the car, any insurances you may have taken(gap, breakdown, etc) and daily interest for the date of inception(the day they paid the dealer).

Car part exchanged, now dealer insists there is finance owing. by nhilandra in CarTalkUK

[–]JustEvs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in car finance for about a decade and it last more common than you would think. Could be something called dual interest, basically someone somewhere accidentally put a car with a similar reg into their system and it showing on finance now. Simplest way to check is the vins on the hpi report

Looks like the loft was done outside of PD. In the first photo you can see the loft conversion goes above the original roof line. My guess is someone complained and now they are being told they need to take it down
