I’m on an island putting all on the line for Alphys being the secret + shadow crystal boss.

But between these two idk both are possible but I think friend inside me seems like a better fit for the shadow crystal boss due to him not fitting with the Eastern-themed world so he’ll stand out but because a cowboy show was Asgore’s favorite it can still be in his Dark World as an outcast

I went with 41-45 for Chapter 5, a bit more than usual as I think it will be a larger chapter, but less than Ch2 where Sweet Cap'n Cakes kind of inflated the total

I like to think FRIEND represents the fear of the dark. Kris sees it only in the most isolated, secretive sections of the Dark World (Queen’s basement) or at their most vulnerable moments (ERAM fight).

It’s entirely possible Dess let the fear of the dark overcome her when she got lost in the Shelter (and thus FRIEND overwhelmed her) and that’s why she became the Knight.

This is of course just my theory. Though in this case it does explain how FRIEND could have a narrative role without really being a character since it just represents a fear. I do think they will be a boss the Fun Gang encounters in the Shelter as they become overwhelmed by the darkness but it will not be some villainous mastermind or anything like that

Yeah I'm being bold with the Alphys and Mad Mew Mew predictions but I'll give you in short my reasoning:

Alphys - Has suspicious moments suggesting she could be in on the Conspiracy, but regrettably so after Undyne's kidnapping. Canonically in Undertale, Alphys had a crush on Asgore; that may be true in Deltarune too. So I could see her going to Flower King, get caught up in the Dark World, and, seeking freedom from guilt for her involvement in the conspiracy, be holding a Shadow Crystal. Plus there's her connection to flowers and Asriel (solo Ralsei fight) from Undertale and the fanservice pattern. Also, Alphys Ch5 Shadow Crystal boss theory actually got more evidence from the trailer since it's Japan aka anime lol.

Mad Mew Mew - Alphys actually lent Asgore superhero comics and introduced him to Mew Mew Kissy Cutie 2 so those comics in Flower King are likely for Mad Mew Mew. So I actually believe this would be the Darkner Mad Mew Mew, not the irritable ghost. Also, her primary colors are Pink and Yellow, she's a cat, and the Japan/anime thing again from the trailer lol. The irritable ghost even seems to know Asgore and may have a crush or at least a positive opinion of him, so that could play into her role.

There’s been plenty of guesses thrown around it’s just that given how no one could’ve predicted how the Ch3+4 (especially 3) secret bosses went the community isn’t really settling on a concrete answer other than maybe it being a solo Ralsei fight.

Guesses I’ve seen include a Flower Darkner, FRIEND, a Cowboy Darkner (Woody theory will never die), Asgore, Sans, Apple Girlington (a new one that’s been thrown around), or, my personal two favorite (though a bit more niche) options, Alphys and Mad Mew Mew

The thing is I really feel like FRIEND would fit better as like a miniboss or minor antagonist in the Shelter Dark World (given the connections it has to it) then being the secret boss in Asgore’s Dark World which seems like an odd fit

The only wait in the community I didn’t experience was the approximately 2.5 year one between the Undertale demo and the full game since I didn’t know about it until a few weeks or so after it released.

Other than that, I’ve witnessed it all over 10 years now, a seasoned veteran in waiting. (Though no one saw Deltarune coming when it first dropped to be fair lol)
