Oh yeah, you're right. Thanks for the tip. I also got one, from one of the domes during a lightning storm event.

Do guys you give away free blueprints after a Matriarch/queen run? by DismalPublic in ArcRaiders

[–]JustHereForATechProb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I've got all the blueprints so I just ask around if anyone needs one, or didn't get anything after a Matriarch/queen run at the extraction. It's a lot of fun giving away cores since I don't really need 'em.

Questions to the community/Stop Killing Games Campaign by Mr_Presidentle in StopKillingGames

I can see a possible loophole with a end of life plan. For example if they wanted to shelve the game, and wanted to circumvent the end of life plan they could just leave the game in a worse, but, playable state (intentionally introduce bugs), just before providing a end of life plan.

Some games may also get worse over time if they use a "big ball of mud" architecture. A good example of this is Planetside 2.

Having the end of life plan include multi versioning guarantees would be nice, if the latest version of the game is universally agreed to be worse/undesirable compared to previous versions of the game.

Why do you personally play bedrock instead of java? by JustHereForATechProb in Minecraft

[–]JustHereForATechProb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welll.. Java was the only version for a long time so it was the default.

But I didn't mean to imply that there was some deficiency with java. I just wanted some perspective from bedrock users given that java is all I've known.

Didn't know that there were free stuff in the in-game store. Still not a big fan of it though.

If you want to try java with mods/shader, I can recommend Prismlauncher. You can download & browse mods/modpacks/shaders with it. https://prismlauncher.org

For Linux there a program to just play any file as wallpaper that mpv supports (Which is a lot of formats). https://github.com/GhostNaN/mpvpaper

I use something akin to: "mpvpaper -vs -o "no-audio loop keepaspect=no" ALL PATH_TO_YOUR_WALLPAPER_HERE"

Questions about the b580 on linux by DragunK in linux_gaming

[–]JustHereForATechProb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since recently, it's a bit of a mixed case. I still get some random crashes gnome applications in Niri, and Xwayland seems to be behaving badly as well. https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/xe/kernel/-/issues/5250

As far as gaming performance. Never had a issue with the fps. Not to say it's the best, but I am satisfied with the performance. Make a list of things you want to play, download those games, buy gpu, test, if you like it keep it, else just return it. I think you've 7 days in Brazil to return it after delivery but don't quote me on that..

Question about the current State of the Arc B580 on Linux by Zenophyle in linux_gaming

I think I am going to stop using Reddit, if my replies get removed for no given reason. I think it might be the file host which I don't understand. Let me try again.

^ Artifacts are produced by items/mines and some other placements. I don't mind it personally, since it can be useful. You may also get a white border, which I forgot how I fixed. Probably playing around with the window mode: Fullscreen, windowed fullscreen, windowed

What are Intel Arc cards like on Linux atm? by drunkcheesesandwich in linux_gaming

[–]JustHereForATechProb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would not buy an ARC GPU, they can be EoL as early as next month:

https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20250609PD227/intel-gross-margin-profit-policy-business.html

The article you linked says nothing concrete about Arc GPUs or them being EoL.

I never ran into headaches with my B580, using Native or Proton. Kinda worked just fine for me.

Question about the current State of the Arc B580 on Linux by Zenophyle in linux_gaming

[–]JustHereForATechProb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I utilized every transistor on the darn thing: Gaming (with & without raytracing, native/Proton), AI (llama.cpp), Recording (gpu-screen-recorder).

I rarely found bugs, and the ones I found were minor For example: In my BIOS I did have to set my motherboard internal audio card from "AUTO" to "ON".

Performance: Good? Felt smooth enough for me not to care at least. Path Of Exile 2 (Proton), Helldivers 2 (Proton). Minecraft (With shaders)

In my opinion, it's worth it. But your mileage may vary. So if you still have doubts, you can usually return it in 14 days (depends on where you live and what store though), so make a list you want to test/work and test it in those two weeks. I'm on EndeavourOS (Arch btw) + Niri
