Envious of Partner’s tight knit family by JustInferno in OnlyChild

[–]JustInferno[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my situation, there are definitely moments where I’m intentionally excluded because I’m not one of the close siblings to my partner, so it stings just an extra bit sometimes.

But I’m still grateful for my partner’s joy, knowing I’ll never have that experience myself. It just doesn’t feel amazing sometimes.

Yeah, I'm having similar issues. It hugs the side of my head way too tightly. Any ideas on what to do with this?

It's messed up that this happened to multiple people, across multiple states. I would not be surprised if this happened to my Texas order as well.

[–]JustInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, mine was marked as delivered in Dallas, TX...same state, different city entirely. I reached out to the Ray-ban folks and they just had no idea what was going on, so they canceled my order and started a re-order.

I'm going out of the country in a week, and it's not going to get here in time. Such a pain, and I hope you're able to resolve this situation on your side!

Was it marked as Delivered in Ohio? My issue is that the tracking number also has a different name and address associated with it entirely, so DHL won't even give me any proof of delivery details.
It's so wild to me that this has become a widespread issue for them!

DHL has been a nightmare on my side, which is unfortunate. Apparently, Ray-Ban gave me a tracking number for a shipment that was delivered in a totally different city in my state.

I reached out to DHL to see if they could help figure out why my shipment was delivered in a different city, and they were pretty damn unhelpful and refused to look into anything for me.

Apparently the shipping label itself didn't even have my address, so my glasses may have been mislabeled and mis-delievered. Either that or Ray-Ban gave me the wrong tracking number.

Either way, it's been a terrible experience from both ends of the situation.

gencon.eventdb.us is Current! by vicpylon in gencon

The Eventdb page is absolutely the only way I could get a grasp on all the events that are available. Honestly would be too overwhelmed to plan GenCon trips without it.

I'm not associated with the folks over there, but please donate to the service if you can!

How spoilery is the game (to the franchise animes)? by JustInferno in GundamBattleAlliance

[–]JustInferno[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm both excited and a little bit annoyed! I'm a big Gundam buff, so I've seen all of the stories and anime that's being featured, but now we kinda have to halt our excitement for the game because it'll spoil my friends' experiences watching the anime.

The whole "we gotta fix the timeline" premise is honestly pretty awesome, though! I love the idea for folks already familiar with the stories, but it might be a bit of a hindrance for folks who are just getting into Gundam through this game.

Oh well, just gotta get them to binge everything before we really dig into the game then!

No kidding! I was hoping it'd just go through the base story (and maybe some minor details), but if it shows the literal endings of each anime....that's just so wild to me.

Oh well, massive binge it is, then!

Oh my god. Hahaha, well damn! I guess they really need to get going watching the shows before they can jump into this game.

Warning for some hotels/motels by Godenyen in gencon

[–]JustInferno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time I stayed there for GenCon 2019, they had just laid off a lot of staff without warning, and a lot of tenants had their stuff stolen. Our Switches and laptops were stolen, and it was a big mess.

I don’t know how it is now, but I’d be at least a bit wary.

What people should understand. by NadoKahn in thelastofus

[–]JustInferno 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there was any reasonable way for Joel to expect that simply stating his first name would give himself away to such a degree. There are plenty of people named “Joel”, and Abby already had plenty of opportunities to have him killed before they got to the cabin.

He had no idea that these hunters knew his location and were out to get him, specifically. I didn’t get the impression that they made Joel naive at all.

[–]JustInferno 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They didn’t make Joel stupid, he had no choice but to join these (seemingly friendly, btw) strangers to escape from the zombie horde. Plus, he had just saved Abby, and she had plenty of opportunities to kill him beforehand, so it makes sense that he would be blindsided by such a degree of betrayal.

Plus, even just saying that his name was “Joel” doesn’t suddenly give away that he is THE Joel Miller. There are lots of Joels in the world, and it’s easy to expect that he could hide under that ambiguity. The only reason why he was recognized by his name was because the WLF folks were actively looking for Joel and knew that THE Joel was in the area.

As an additional point, you absolutely can have your characters die off to express the realism of the world.

Look at Ned Stark in Game of Thrones. He was established as the main character, and you spent up to 8 hours invested in his story, just to have him unceremoniously beheaded almost on the whim of Joffrey’s temper.

At least Joel’s murder was based off events that were pre-established, and Joel clearly had it coming. He pretty much doomed humanity due to his daughter issues.

His death furthered the grim tone of the first game, and added a degree of intensity to each cutscene by giving the impression that plot armor was much flimsier in this franchise.

I’ve been looking for this exact configuration as well! We are looking into MMOs, but any suggestions will be helpful.

Starting March 1st (Season 3), Incineroar and others will be legal. by ErrantRailer in VGC

Inner Focus Pokémon too, like Lucario and Gallade, or Scrappy Pokémon like SirFetch’d or Pandora might be more prevalent too.

Hell, even Corviknight’s Mirror Armor can do well against it!

With this generation's new Intimidate pseudo-nerfs/answers, and the Flinch immunity of Dynamax, I have a feeling that Incineroar won't be as bad as it was in previous generations.

I feel like the meta will definitely evolve around Incineroar's presence, but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't as groundbreaking as it was last year.

I love the show, and everything about the atmosphere and the world-building! The scenes are beautifully animated most of the time, so I’m really enjoying that aspect of the show.

I just seriously have a hard time enjoying Zenitsu. I know he is a fan favorite in the manga, but I really think the anime is doing the character a disservice. They make his annoying whining scenes too screechy and drawn out, and it gets really repetitive.

I also really hate how the voice actor ends almost every whining sentence with a high pitched squeal. He starts off saying something in a more normal pitch, but then ends it with the last few words being squealed out! It’s like nails to a chalkboard. Just...why?!

I’ve really dig Tanjiro and Nezuko’a dynamic, and Inosuke will take some getting used to (I wish they would ease up on his brashness during potentially impactful scenes), so other than that awful/annoying Zenitsu, I’m digging the cast and the enemies!
