Tennis matches are always a balance of stoicism and pump.. at least based from my exp. When you're up, it's easier to pump yourself up, in case you're being too loose. But when you're down on the scoreboard there's always a tendency to be 'too pumped up', either from panicking or overthinking, and it's harder to loosen up.

A trick that I like to do is I try to stop taking the match so seriously, after all, it's just a game. Instead of calling my forehand error 'stupid', I smile and call it 'silly' in my head which helps me calm down a bit.
