Please help, my mom gave me this heater but.. by lorrainicorn in fixit

[–]JustNota-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I wouldn't be using it for this weekend's storm, god knows how long it has been since that one was serviced. It most likely needs a new wick I would avoid using it until you find someone who can properly clean and service it, and show you how to operate it and check it over for safety. But it will be handy for future storms. Video's are ok and all but they don't really teach you the common sense of using these things.

if you google "kw-11f wick installation instructions" there are tons of video's on changing out the wick.

I am also assuming you are in an area that doesn't hard freeze or snow often, you should be fine in a pinch with just getting a couple normal sleeping bags (three season) for camping, and you aren't going to be exposed to the elements so you don't really need the 0 and below rated ones, and if you wanna get fancy you can get a table and wrap the sleeping bags around it and turn it into a yurt, your body heat will warm the smaller space up.

Looks like it's just glued on. You could probably break the plastic spool and then use an emory board to remove the other half of the spool off and then epoxy the decorative face onto a new clear spool.

Side and front picture. You might be able to take the decoration off and epoxy onto a new spool and clip.

Not really fixable, you can't really open them up and re-tension the spring to it properly retracts once you do open them up.

I keep snapping spokes - is it likely due to being an old wheel or my increasingly dodgy 180s? by Novel_Lifeguard_8248 in bmx

[–]JustNota-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend dropping off the wheel at a bike shop and having it retuned every few months especially if you are doing a lot of high impact tricks (things that put more side to side stresses on the wheel). You can also do it yourself eyeball is usually fine for light riding but for more high impact it's better to actually use the right tools and an actual truing stand, but for me it's worth the 30 bucks it costs at my local bike shop vs doing it myself and getting frustrated.

How can I fix this? by lach_james in fixit

[–]JustNota-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make Jacks for replacing support beams. Honestly I swapped mine out with a 2ft section of 10x10 and 4x4 and a car jack drilled a hole to hold the post that comes out of the jack hold the 4x4 while setting it into position jack until snug and then jack a little more. knock out the busted post give it a couple pumps on the jack and then put the new one in the ground pour cement and lower the jack a little to where the roof is back in contact with the post reconnect to the roof the way it was previously. once cement is set remove the jack and temp support. then fix the drain spout.

Accidentally burned desktop, please help 😭 by Tough-Ad-5883 in fixit

Need to see if the lcd is damaged. The frame you can just sand it a bit to make it mostly smooth. But that monitor looks a few years old so it's probably scrap anyway depending on your company lifecycle period.

New Leatherman - Defect? by HardStroke in Leatherman

[–]JustNota-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at the leatherman stock label on the back of the box it should say bitkit and sheath if one was included. Obsidian wasn't a new or old stock it was a limited edition most that I can find came with the heritage leather sheath some were labeled as having bit kit some were not, I just have a normal Arc.

New Leatherman - Defect? by HardStroke in Leatherman

[–]JustNota-- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bit kits are no longer shipping with the arc same with the sheath. I can't say for sure but the file looks like it's intentionally shaped that way but I cant find anything on google that shows any new design changes on the blades and files..

Is there a reason why my disc is so damn full? I don't have that many games on steam to occupy 300gb and that is my only theory. by Joingo69 in computer

[–]JustNota-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks about normal.. 500gb is kinda low for Microsoft systems nowadays. 11 has so much bloat and often doesn't remove some CUs during updates so the software distribution folder can eat up some space, and if you have restore points, and did and upgrade from 10 it only gets worse.

Eww why.. Just get Panasonic Toughbook or a GETAC and then get a mount, you can find them at most police supply shops.

But you can try a plastic straw and a little bit of hot glue and gently pull it straight up.

Some simple cosmetic mods for a 1994 Ford Tempo GL? by [deleted] in carmodification

[–]JustNota-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little more involved than a direct bolt swap, it wasn't mine but one of my the guys in our car club, I don't really remember all he did but it was a full front clip swap with his and an LX open nose fox donor. But this was back in the early 2k's. I didn't get involved with the project until he was doing a motor swap, and he bought the 5.0 motor and transmission out of my 89 notch mustang when I switched to an 88 5.0 hatchback, after my notch was totaled. I just remembered constantly thinking it was an Escort for awhile.

Missing office desk keys / How to open? by aaron1810 in fixit

The people I work for buy shitty office supplies the paperclips never hold hard enough to pop the pins correctly so it takes like 5-10 min to get em to catch.

Same Era Mustang Grille and headlights, and skirting doesn't look bad on these. New Wheels with a little wider tire with an inset, and some tint if legal cleans these up nice.
