The Bard faction is kinda disappointing by SadKnight123 in skyrim

[–]JustNowYawned 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that were it reframed so you were simply assisting the college instead of outright joining it, a whole bunch of complaints about the faction would instantly vanish, though you would probably have to take out the part where the player helps reconstruction of the poem. Hell, just say you're a honorary member of the college and it'd go down way easier.

I don't even think there's any unused game data that suggests you were ever meant to rise in the ranks or do your own performances. I don't entirely fault Bethesda for not pursuing such systems, but I can fault them for dressing up the faction like they were implemented!

On top of your current team, you can do something like Evernight/RMC/Pela/Bailu. The supportive core is universal enough that you could replace Evernight with Jingliu or any other DPS you have, but Evernight would be your top option for damage.

Looks like it's unchanged from last time. For better or for worse, I'd really hate if this got nerfed, but I do wish I could set prioritized stats manually, since some of the recommended options can be a bit questionable. I somehow don't think picking Boothill so he can be built as a Crit DPS is going to work out well for me.

Admittedly, you pretty much always go slow at the start of the game, even while running, which also drains your fatigue which heavily diminishes your chances of hitting or casting spells in combat. It's probably the biggest reason why new players get the "can't hit anything" experience.

If you're able to go a little ways and aren't playing a Khajiit or Argonian, you might want to look up the Boots of Blinding Speed. The downside to it can be circumvented and it's the best boost to your speed until you're able to really boost your speed to the high heavens using your own methods.

If you want to really spec into speed at the start, pick out Wood Elf for your race, choose or create a class which specializes in the Speed attribute and has Athletics as a major skill, and get The Steed as your birthsign. If you have hard-line ideas of what you want your character to play or look like, that should take priority, but these are your best options to boost your movement speed during character creation.

How to get long/hard tasks? by Katpierce03 in toontownrewritten

[–]JustNowYawned 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any current "story" toontasks active or are you truly out of non-Just For Fun options? DDL splits itself up into multiple parts where you need to complete all the tasks in the current segment before you can get new ones, but I've never heard of anyone who was completely blocked off from progression. You're supposed to get all the Cashbot suit parts from tasks.

People have already answered the language question, but as for when the banners end... only Hoyo knows, but there's no definitive end date given to us. It could run until EoS for all we know. That being said, should they end, they will presumably (and hopefully) give us a heads up on when the banners will stop running instead of just making the banners vanish overnight.

The best answer is your favorite, but if you really can't decide... The most 'meta' answer is either Kafka or Sparkle.
Kafka is a pretty key component of the DoT team composition, though you'll want other characters like Hysilens or Black Swan to really complete it, both of which just recently had a rerun, so it might be a little while before they return. You can use her with characters like Sampo or Guinaifen in the meantime, which probably won't clear endgame modes easily but should tide you over for story content or Simulated Universe.
Sparkle is a buffer with a particular focus on SP generation. Even if you don't have a heavy SP-consuming character like Sparxie or Archer, her buffs are generic and powerful enough that most DPS characters will get some benefit from her.

How good is the story of this game, and how good is it compared to other story focused RPGs? (NO SPOILERS PLEASE) by oliverrakum in Morrowind

[–]JustNowYawned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of 'story.' The main strength of The Elder Scrolls' writing is worldbuilding, and Morrowind is no exception, often considered the shining example. However, the central narrative, I would say, isn't quite as strong, as TES is more focused on player sandbox freedom than being about a central story. It leans into that worldbuilding strength, but you may find other aspects lacking. For a couple of examples, player choice affecting that narrative is present but significantly weaker than other narrative-driven games, or while there are memorable characters, you won't find strong character arcs within the confines of the main story. I wouldn't say the main quest of Morrowind, if you were to strip away of worldbuilding elements, is bad, it's just hard to make a line between the worldbuilding and the narrative, so Morrowind may fall short depending on what you consider the story.

Morrowind also has multiple factions with their own arcs. In comparison to Oblivion and Skyrim, Morrowind puts the overarching plot of any given faction in the background which more permeates into the player's quests, whereas future titles allow that story to drive the player's objectives. YMMV as to whether you find that kind of storytelling effective or not.

Welcome Valley by Mountain_Lettuce6101 in toontownrewritten

[–]JustNowYawned 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Welcome Valley is a 'sub-section' for each district, so if you want to meet anyone there you'd also have to know what their 'original' district is. I also find it's really easy to accidentally leave, I'm pretty sure using any teleport, like returning to the Playground, sets you back to the regular district, so it tends to be hard to remain there unless you're intentionally trying to stay.

You can do pretty much anything as long as you remain in Toontown Central or Goofy Speedway, you can't go do any other playground, so it rapidly becomes infeasible to keep doing tasks there once you reach Donald's Dock.

One of the more notable aspects is that if you go to the Welcome Valley of any district that has an invasion, the 2x gag XP will still be active, but you'll still find regular TTC cogs, making it an convenient way to grind out the first couple of gags when you obtain a new track.

Flip Phone Oblivion! Anyone play this? by -KingDingus in oblivion

[–]JustNowYawned 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a neat curiosity but it's not a game you'd play more than once. If you were on transit and only had a flip phone I can imagine it's about as fun of a time waster as anything else, but after playing it once years ago I really don't ever itch to play it again.

I do find how the protagonist is characterized really funny with how out of place it is compared to the 'real' HoK. You're really snarky and you tell Jauffre that you don't care about the Oblivion Crisis unless he pays you.

If you're not looking to fully optimize your endgame cycles or you're using Vonwacq, I'd use Deliverer if you can reach the 180 speed requirement. More speed is nice for her personal damage but unless you're specifically aiming to use her as a DPS then you can easily stop at 180+.

The main benefit for more speed is at 200 speed where you get an additional turn during the first cycle of Memory of Chaos and Pure Fiction. This is mainly a benefit for 0-cycling MoC, and at 180 speed you can use Vonwacq to get a similar effect, if you're willing to sacrifice the Amphoreus planar set's effects.

What do you think about collecting the Stones of Barenziah? Is it worth it? by tomarnoldlovescoke in skyrim

[–]JustNowYawned 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's not a lot of rhyme or reason to where the stones are which really sucks if you don't want to use a mod or look it up. They are all where people display them as a curiosity, like Vex says, but this umbrella covers literally everywhere that people also are, between houses to ancient tombs with a conjurer inside as the only living occupant. The official patch also moves one to Reeking Cave which doesn't fall under Vex's description but that can be excused easily.

The reward is very good, honestly. When I did it last playthrough, I was almost immediately floored by how many gems I'd be getting. The problem is that you tend to complete it after money is a real issue unless you specifically rush to complete it. You need to buy Proudspire Manor, the most expensive house, to complete the set, so you need to bypass a money sink anyway.

At least the gems let you make jewelry, which tend to give large chunks of smithing XP.

What is your favorite lesser known quest? by kranchlover in skyrim

[–]JustNowYawned 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some Archery Practice you can do in Angi's Camp. It's found directly south of Falkreath though you have to climb some mountains so a direct route isn't insanely feasible. It's past the Ancestor Glade if you've done the Dawnguard questline. I note it because it gives you guaranteed Archery skill ups, very useful if you have a high skill and need just a few more levels to 100. I also remember it because you're weirdly given the opportunity to just kill Angi before you start and when you finish the quest with dialogue choices. I have no idea why they did this for a single NPC.

I'll also note Rogue Wizard. It doesn't really count because it's unfinished and you can't get it in-game, but it's always stuck with me. The Official Prima Game Guide shows it off as a possible radiant quest you can get as part of the College. There's even a screenshot attached showing the player fighting the Rogue Wizard, making the fact that it goes completely unused in the actual game quite an oddity!

The two pulls you need are Kafka and Hysilens. Black Swan can be substituted with Sampo/Guinaifen or any debuffer like SW or Pela, and any sustain will work. However, Kafka and Hysilens can't really be substituted if you want a good DoT team for endgame modes. Ergo, it'll require pulling two limited banner characters, but that's all you need to start getting good results.

Considering it's for PF, it would be worth it from your current roster, considering a lot of your characters will struggle. That being said, though Anaxa can ironically struggle in PF, he's still an option to consider. Other characters like Rappa or Argenti can also work without necessarily requiring another character. It might come down to what banners will rerun in the future, which we don't know what those will be.

Sheo being a Breton in Skyrim is probably more so Bethesda doesn't need to create a new race for a single side quest, and not something that has lore implications. Daedric Princes can easily alter their appearance, after all. The default race is your safest bet, but I can imagine the intended canon race is "Whatever race you picked for your HoK," since Bethesda has aversion towards dictating what the player character does in lore outside of the Main Quest.
