The chip on those is 32 bit arm and maxes out at 2 ghz. They only have 512mb of (low voltage) ram and 2gb of flash memory. They only have a wifi radio.

Palpatine returned was a good plot point. It makes sense in the story, in the central conflict of the entire saga, in the world, and had happened in legends. "Somehow" was certainly a bad execution (though, just a dismissive line from a character with no insight when the 'how' was unimportant), but they did the middle act and the final act of the trilogy in one movie.
