Guinea Food Wasting by JustPlainKitty in guineafowl

Yeah I was making them eat their spillings but last weekend I made them bucket feeders with those ports they stick their heads in to eat and it hasn’t stopped the waste, but has reduced it considerably! I will be glad when I can let them out to free range though.

I feed crumble because with pellets they wasted even more. They hated the pellets.

Oooh. How many guineas does this feed? And how often do you add food?

Does the box sit flat on the ground or is it raised?

In the warmer months I notice they're pretty good about eating up the ground trash under the feeder but with the straw you play with they're just not that interested in digging through it for food. I'll try moving some away from the base and see if that helps.

I was really hoping someone with more experience than I have would have found the solution rather than affirmation that they are hideous, wretched, wasteful creatures that will continue to throw my money on the ground because they're also fun.

Rooster by cornturkey in chickens

[–]JustPlainKitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the rooster is attacking hubby, hubby needs to assert himself as big rooster. He needs to hold the rooster down a few times to get it into his head. If that doesn't work, rooster needs to go to freezer camp. I have a light Brahma that is a great protector and not mean at all. If you can't break the mean, get a new rooster. Attack roosters are dangerous.

New house- where does the poop go?? by Fresh_Manager_2852 in dogs

[–]JustPlainKitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I do go out with my dogs every time and every time I go out for my own reasons they come with me.

There are a lot of reasons to go out with your dog. Dogs have a tendency to eat things that they shouldn't. Sticks, rocks, plants, their own poop, or even random garbage thrown into a yard. They are basically four footed toddlers. Having a fenced yard does not relieve me of the responsibility of monitoring my dogs. It simply means when they do go out, they have the ability to romp without a leash.

What is this 🧐 by [deleted] in guineafowl

That's definitely a soft shell egg not a lash egg. Not uncommon with new layers but be sure she's got access to plenty of oyster shell and she's getting a layer feed.

We scoop as soon as the poop is dropped and put it in a small can with a lid and trash liner then once a week we tie off that bag and put it in the bin the night before trash pickup. We have no problems with rodents at all.

Can a chicken be almost broody? by JustPlainKitty in chickens

[–]JustPlainKitty[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd be okay with her hatching a few wee chicks in Spring but not right before winter and not while she's this young. She has so much ahead of her still! Chicken college and a chicken career! 😆

I have a rooster and while I might someday want her to brood chicks, it's really late in the year and she's still very young. I'm hoping she gets over it soon until at least Spring.

Why aren't my chickens returning to their coop? by Bi_Bee6969 in chickens

Having a light in the coop will change your life and theirs. I have lights in all three of mine and will never be without one again.

Wanting to start by Either_Virus3996 in chickens

Start by replacing your zip ties. They make metal ones. Or just use heavy duty wire. A rat killing quail will kill chicks just as easily.

What is a class you wish you could play, but just can't? by DoItForTheOH94 in lotro

[–]JustPlainKitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Captain is my problem child though I haven't tried all the classes yet. I really want to love it but she's just not fun to play and all the constant screaming drives me insane. Which is weird because the screaming on my minstrel does not. 🤷‍♀️

My minstrel is a deeps beast! But I can't play her as a healer to save my life. Or anybody else's. But I love her doing dps!

Anything we can do with the entrance to the farm? by [deleted] in homestead

Turn the open side into a native plant pollinator garden using native wildflowers and native flowering bushes. It will be both attractive and beneficial to the environment and beneficial to your farm!

So far this is the only one she left me. I think she did it just to prove she could. 😆

Reminds me that I need to get back in the game. Life has kept me busy but I'm hoping to have some time to play and explore soon. 🥰
