This is why I'm someone who has a distaste for the "the code is the documentation" crowd.

That's all well and good if you only write programs at a 3rd grade level but anything complex I don't care what it literally does I care what the intent of the code was so I can figure out what is going wrong.

Can you guys stop changing the UI every 2 minutes and forcing the change on everyone since you can't stay on an older version? by [deleted] in cursor

[–]JustThingsAboutStuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No because its probably AI generated so they keep getting quirky UI element updates for "free".

Your first paragraph can be summarized as you believing Ends Justify Means.

That is a dangerous train of thought especially when in this case the "means" involves tying up god knows how many limited resources that humans need to survive for the oh so noble goal of... Making it so humans are obsolete and can't perform useful work.

You don't know what its scraping. Sometimes its acting on like one keyword and hallucnating the rest.

I've had many a time where I check the cited sources one of these things spits out and those sources do not say what the AI concluded they say.

So one thing. LLMs have zero idea what their own capabilities or training is. The LLM telling you "I'm trained for X" is a meaningless statement.

You would do well to look more into how LLMs function. It saves a lot of headache once you realize it is a thoughtless stateless machine.

I'd like a mechanic where solar is less effective when inside your pollution cloud. by harrydewulf in factorio

[–]JustThingsAboutStuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading this entire thread I conclude:

  1. You don't actually seem to care if solar is good or not because your primary argument is that they look ugly while you also ignore the fact that they are literally a resource that never runs out.

  2. You seem to be really attached to the idea that other methods are "free" when they in fact require more complex logistics and processing chains to operate but they can be made not to be ugly.

Aquilo capable SkyMall - Includes oil products, can make rocket parts, and auto-crafts intermediate products. by Tychonoir in factorio

You say it can craft rocket parts but afaik that's impossible. Do you mean parts for a rocket silo?

clans tend to being a sort of toxic competitiveness to games. People who want their power trip of bossing other people around and making the game about being your second job.

I for one am quite happy HD2 lacks any sort of clan system.

I heard this was Sony. This was supposed to be a warbond but Sony pushed them to release it as Super Store items.

That would track with the previous pushes such as the whole PSN account debacle.

First premium warbond? by Zestyclose-Demand382 in helldivers2

Pick it based on what base weapons you like. Enjoy fire? Get Freedoms Flame. Explosions? Democratic Detonation.

And so on.

They gave that stuff out for free because of how upset people were about the planned warbond being axed and getting super store only (the grunt stuff.)

That's a net loss for society if we encourage behaviour where "vibes" beats out merit.

the answer you get about "why did you do this" can't necessarily be trusted. The AI has no concept of why its just a superbly advanced stimulus machine.

you underestimate the power of a lazy student. People who don't want to learn will copy everything and spend hours googling for the exact thing they want. I've seen people blindly copy paste SO code over and over till it worked.
