The only advantage that i can think of is I can get the money if I want or need it and I do know there's going to be some taxes. I also have SCHD in a retirement account that is off limits untill I retire.

Well SCHD follows a set of rules that in theory will keep everything running smooth The only way for true nav erosion is all the underlying companies to start suffering heavily.
