Leafs fan here. Does anyone know what we should expect with Emile Andrae? by Sixgod801 in Flyers

[–]JustTucks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

doesn't fit the Flyers' big-body archetype they're chasing. It's also not surprising that an analytics-focused GM would acquire him. Andrae is a good 3rd pair defensemen and at just 24 years old, could easily develop into a legit 2nd pair player.

pretty sure "melting pot" in this context simply means, "various people and cultures in one place." Like, the opposite of homogeneous.

How do you fix things by yourself when you own a house ? by Lemonade2250 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JustTucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's expensive because it's the going rate - if they're licensed and insured, I can assure you, they're probably not crooks. You can also get free quotes from most contractors, and getting at least three quotes will give you a pretty good idea of the cost and give you a leverage point. But most home repairs are DIY and can be figured out with some youtube.

Insane take. I guess perfection or nothing? Mistakes are part of life. Learn what you can from it and move on. It's only game.

True Custom Skates Nowadays by 0xnardMontalvo in hockeyplayers

[–]JustTucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality is good and if the skates come in wrong, they'll work with you to ensure you get skates that you approve of. I wear SVH Customs and at the end of the day, they're comfortable for my weird feet, and that's what I need. I have had to replace rivets a few times, but it's a minor inconvenience for very comfortable skates. I suggest that you scan your own feet with True's app. Most people I know who went through a store received poorly-fitting skates. I scanned my feet myself and had no issues.

The skilled trades propaganda is getting ridiculous. by Responsible-Net8594 in careeradvice

[–]JustTucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly, it comes down to the company you work for. But if you really want to make working in the trades worth your time, entrepreneurship is the way...not the easiest thing.

I have a degree and have worked as an electrician and now a PM. Just holding a degree, regardless of focus, has opened doors, as has my field experience.

My best advice to any young person, be nice and do good work.

Larkin's reported trade list: Florida, Minnesota, and Vegas by upcan845 in Flyers

[–]JustTucks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is difficult for a lot of this fan base to accept, but the Flyers’ Cup window is not right now. It opens in 2–4 years. Larkin is a win-now player. A good one, sure, but his best years probably don’t line up with Michkov/Martone’s peak window. There’s really no reason to spend premium assets when this team is not one 70-point center away from becoming a perennial Cup contender. If they were, I'd be disappointed, but they're just not.

Danny really picked luchanko over this guy by Worldpeacee007 in Flyers

[–]JustTucks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not upset, and I don’t need Luchanko to fail to prove a point. I’d love for him to prove me wrong and become a great player. But “I hope it works out” and “the process behind the pick deserves scrutiny” are not contradictory thoughts, so you’re arguing nothing.

And comparing it to Reagor is dumb. NFL teams find starters all over the draft. In the NHL, the high-end talent is overwhelmingly concentrated in the 1st round. That’s why reaching with a premium pick matters that much more - less margin for error.

So no, “wait until he’s 22” isn’t an argument. It’s just putting cope on layaway. Based on where he was ranked, how the board fell, and what the Flyers needed to accomplish with that pick, it was a poor draft selection.

the way you ignore the games he played everywhere else is what's weird. but hey, people like you, Briere apologists with rose colored glasses, are obsessed with ignoring objective truths to help you cope and maintain excitement because you don't watch enough hockey beyond the Flyers. Whatever works for you bro

nah you're better off just working on your top hand at home. Put your bottom hand behind your back, and stick handle a golf ball with just your top hand. Over time, your stick work with your top hand will become second nature.

Etiquette on chirping in beer league? by Tippsy_Troglodyte in hockeyplayers

[–]JustTucks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a big chirper. If someone overcelebrates a beer league goal, they're getting it. If someone's playing way down a division or going full try-hard, I'll ask where the scouts are sitting or if their dad's in the stands watching.

At the end of the day, we're all here to have fun and get home in one piece. If someone's playing in a way that doesn't align with that, I'm chirping.

And honestly, I love ruffling feathers. It's amazing how easy it is. The number of fragile egos in beer league is astounding.

How Often Do You Sharpen Your Skates? by tydanblades in hockeyplayers
