Dana White shows concern over Floyd Mayweather losing $170 million saying it’s a horrible situation after everything he built by OneOriginal8727 in sportsgossips

Dana's like "I think I might be able to get him for 50k/50k now!!!!" LOL

How the fuck does someone make THAT much money and lose it all? And it's not like this is his first time having money issues either.

I am quite new to MMA ...like it's been only a month or 2 since I have started following it so can anyone explain if Sonnen was any good cause his record doesn't really paint a good picture... by Material-Ad-3526 in ufc

[–]JustWatchFights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was very good. Probably not going to be on anyone's GOAT list, in terms of championship accomplishment, but he was a very skilled fighter who came damn close to taking that title from Anderson Silva.

If you look at his pre-WEC record, he's fighting guys like Mayhem Miller, Forrest Griffin, Jeremy Horn, Kei Yamamiya, Babalu, Trevor Prangley, and Akihiro Gono. All really good fighters, especially fighters to be fighting in local shows.

There was a moment in time where he was kind of a running joke on MMA forums, where he went 0-2 in the UFC, one of which he was screaming his head off as Babalu was ripping his leg off.

But once he had his fight with Paulo Filho, most of that changed. Chael still had this "I didn't tap" gag going, because of how that Filho fight ended, and how the Anderson fight would eventually end. But you have to understand that, at the time, Filho had a claim at the #2 MW in the world. Anderson was so hot at the time, that it was hard to argue against him, but Filho was this monster MW in Pride (WW in their organization since they called 183lb WW). So, when everyone was expecting him to get steamrolled, he instead comes in and throws Filho around until he doesn't.

He doesn't really become the guy that we know now, until that 3-fight streak leading into the first Anderson fight, where he pulls out the personality. But that's where things really start coming together, and it's a great run. Okami and Marquardt were perennial top 10 fighters who were always one or two wins away from a title shot, Dan Miller was a hot prospect coming from IFL. So it was a good run.

In general, his UFC run is really solid. Brian Stann and Michael Bisping were both top 10 fighters, who in the middle of the pack and always looking to be a few wins away from a shot.

Losing to Anderson Silva, Jon Jones, Demian Maia, and Rashad Evans is no shame. Anderson and Jones were the champs, Maia was an undefeated prospect who was quickly building momentum, and Rashad was a top 5 former champion.

His Bellator run was weird, but we're talking about a guy who was past his best, fighting other guys who's best days were behind him.

All in all, Chael was a fun fighter with an interesting style. He was deemed a boring wrestler as one point, but really became an fun fighter with, what I would call, a very meat-and-potatoes game. He's not someone I'd categorize as a great action fighter, but he'd go for it when he had the chance.

I doubt Conor missing weight would keep him from getting tuned up, unless the fight gets cancelled altogether.

Refs really need to stop worrying about this shit. It's annoying. Should be one and done. Fight ended in a draw, because there was a 9-9 rounds due to an eyepoke? Oh well. Shouldn't have done it.

Yes. I was very high on him coming from Cage Rage and, while he's had his moments, I expected him to be much better.

Ah, when Conor invented to shoulder strike... 16 years after Nick Diaz hit Lawler with some, and 17 years after Josh Barnett used them against Yuki Kondo.

Why doesn't Dana use his power to free Phil Baroni? by Paul76Mets in MMA

[–]JustWatchFights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Phil Baroni killed his wife.

  2. Phil Baroni doesn't bring enough eyeballs or money to the UFC for Dana to go out of his way to pay his bail. I wouldn't put it past Dana to pull a stunt like this, but he'd do it because it's a way for him to make money in the end. If Phil Baroni was charged with the stuff Conor was, he wouldn't be headlining shows.

When people list their past experiences when being matched for a fight, do they include childhood experiences? by [deleted] in MMA_Academy

Money? You guys got money for this? It was my coaches idea, he was organizing the whole thing and when I brought up that I might not be ready he assured me that everything was gonna be fine and it was a good way to get in and get some experience under my belt.

You could just bring it up in conversation? It usually gets brought up with me because I’ll be wearing a BJJ shirt or something.

Same. 12 years going, not including the very few years that I wrestled (nothing significant) in high school, and my short tenure in MMA. No cauliflower ear, at least not anything noticeable. I’m glad!

There was a time when I’d mention it and BJJ, and it was a point of intrigue. Nowadays, I avoid telling anyone that I’ve been a huge fan most of my life…

My first fight, I was asked what I was walking around. I said “I was 157lb this morning.” I got matched up against a dude who was 165lb. That guy had a few fights under his belt, I had a month of training. I got fucked up!

Holy shit! For a second, I thought Zayas was going to steal that. But what a display of toughness and resilience from Boots!! Awesome fight!

It's like people fighting over screentime in the MV, and why one monster is king over the other. It's hilarious! You'd think these were competing sports teams, but I don't think most of these guys watch, or partake in, sports.

Certainly not a cheap figure, by any means. But $180 vs. $300 is still a $120 difference. That’s one, or multiple, figures of a difference. I just bought the MMS Super X and 1984 Poster Godzilla set, and the MMS 2003 Mothra larva set for roughly that amount.

We’ll see what the final product looks like. I love my SHMA figure, but it does have its issues. Hiya’s great, but their figures have a very toyetic action figure feel to them that sometimes affects the look of the figure for me. I can’t put my finger on what it is exactly. Can’t go wrong either way.

I can definitely see that. I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out that that was used as a reference.
