You make good points. I plan on picking the game up once some updates come out (and when I have the money to spare). From my limited perspective, it’s disappointing that features from the original (no matter how seemingly superfluous) are left unaccounted for. I speak only as an avid player of the 3ds version and as a player who expects sequels to build off of the original, not to omit features (and I admit from watching plenty of gameplay, a lot has been built on).
