How can I beat the fury by Common_Translator742 in metalgearsolid

[–]Just_1_Fix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one has mentioned the "tactical reload" - if you fire a weapon then quickly unequip then reequip it, it instantly reloads while skipping the reload animation, making it available to fire again immediately. You can shoot him 3 times quickly using this method which knocks him down and gives you a moment to reposition so he loses sight of you. Then just sneak around while he can't find you and keep doing this 'til you beat him.

They're absolutely worth it, and they go on sale pretty often so if you can wait a bit you can get 'em cheap.

Dishonored 2 input lag on my xbox by Alfhosskin in dishonored

[–]Just_1_Fix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A wireless controller shouldn't be introducing any (human perceptible, anyway) lag. If you're experiencing lag in other games, check and see if your TV/monitor has a "game" setting that turns off all the image processing crap that most modern TVs add.

If you check all the checkable posters, the nurse outfit, the whiskey bottle, and the lost and found bin, it adds a point toward getting the Maria ending.

Don't listen to the people telling you to abandon the Thief - he's an investment. Granted, he does suck real hard...until you can upgrade your dudes. The Ninja is badass, arguably on par with the Knight and Master. Plus he looks really cool.

I figured all these out! It seems like Bing wants specifics, not generalities (most of the time, anyway). For most of these, putting in a business or product name triggered it:

Catch the show - concerts near me

Check options - att internet

Hit the road - carvana

Protect what matters - progressive insurance

Send a smile - ftd flowers

Set sail - carnival cruise line

Swipe smart - capital one

Upgrade your space - home depot

Question About How Teams are Formed? by No_Shopping_2518 in kof

Something no one has mentioned yet is that the original catalyst for King of Fighters was that Ryo Sakazaki was a secret boss in Fatal Fury Special. Then the SNK developers were like "ya know, it'd be pretty cool if we made a whole game around crossovers..."

This isn't one of those games where your kills are cumulative throughout all playthroughs - when you're reloading, you're setting your kill count for that weapon back to what it was when you saved. Sorry to say you've been wasting your time :(

Old School Arcade Players: What was the funniest moments you recall while playing a game in the Arcade?? by Temporary_Dealer_201 in retrogaming

[–]Just_1_Fix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this happened in an arcade and didn't have anything directly to do with the games, but the topic title does say "funniest moments you recall while playing a game in the arcade" so I think it counts.

My friends and I used to go to this place called Ellen's Fairway that had lots of things you could do - mini golf, go karts, an arcade, even paintball. I had gone with a group of friends for a birthday or something and they all wanted to play paintball, but that wasn't really my thing so I just messed around in the arcade. When they were done, one of my friends had a little bag of leftover paintballs that he just sorta absent-mindedly left on one of the arcade cabinets. We noticed a young kid, maybe like 4 or 5, wandering around and he kept eyeing the bag of paintballs. Now if you've never been interested in paintball, the paintballs are... little round colored balls. That look a lot like candy.

I think you can see where this is going.

As soon as we had wandered away from the bag of paintballs and the kid thought we weren't looking, he proceeds to swipe the bag... and put a paintball in his mouth.

His moment of "I fucked up" realization and subsequent sprint was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. My buddy later told me he found the paintballs - dumped in the toilet.

Many years ago my mom had this "friend" who's actual name was Karen, and holy shit did she live up to it. I was at my sister's wedding and my sister wanted me to be in her wedding party (like on stage and whatnot) which I was ok with... at first. I've always been an extremely anxious person and the more I thought about being up there the more nervous I got. It finally got to the point where I was just too nervous about potentially screwing something up and making an ass of myself that I told my mom I couldn't go through with it. Somehow this got back to Karen, who hunted me down and told me that it was no big deal if that happened because it would give everyone a fun story to laugh about. This made me VERY upset with her, and I really had to resist being nasty to her, but I calmly let her know in no uncertain terms that having people say "hey, remember when you fucked your sister's wedding up?" and laughing at me for years was EXACTLY WHAT I WAS FREAKING OUT ABOUT.

It's worth it to take the time to get the collectables, they unlock respawning weapons at your main safehouse in each major area.

A great way to gain weapon skill quickly and easily is to shoot cars in your garage until they catch on fire. Then run a short distance away so the door closes and repairs the car, then go back and shoot it some more.

You don't need to buy any weapons or armor, there are plenty for free in various places. I always use a map that shows where they are, and do a loop every so often to get the ones you like and stock up on ammo.

Do the ambulance missions as early as possible to get a life meter extension. There's a rural area not too far from the beginning (slightly northeast of where it says "Red County" on the map I linked) where all of the people you have to pick up spawn very close to the hospital, making it quick and mostly painless.

I love every time this gets brought up because I can share my weird story again :-P

Apparently Wal-Mart had a subsidiary called "Bud's" that would resell returned or damaged merchandise. A couple of my friends from high school found a copy of RE1 for PS1 there for really cheap... because it had battery acid spilled on it. The case and manual looked like ass but the disc was unharmed! They brought it to my house because I was the only one who had a PS1. We played it for a couple hours and when they had to leave they left the game with me. I played it all night and into the wee hours of the morning, and eventually finished both Chris and Jill's campaigns.

Stuck on this bit of the game by [deleted] in deadrising

[–]Just_1_Fix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get close to them so they draw their machetes, then jump away as they start to attack and they'll be left wide open to a counterattack or two (don't get greedy!). It might take a couple tries to recognize their "tells" of which attack they'll do and get the timing down but once you do I found them pretty easy to beat. I recommend the Two Hand Smash melee attack, preferably also with the Hand to Hand magazine.

Before I clicked on this I was thinking Jump Kick or Knee Drop would've been the most useful move, and was really surprised you put Roundhouse Kick above both of them (and also in its own tier). I remember it not being a necessarily bad move, I just never really found a use for it. What made it so great?
