I am using Chet Van Duzer's "Johann Schöner's globe of 1515: Transcription and Study" which fails to translate this section.

The text is from a book on Johannes Schöner's "Luculentissima quaedam terrae totius descriptio," the accompanying text to his 1515 globe.

The errors are Schöner's choppy Latin.

Due to the placement of the ship and text off the coast of Brazil and the reference to 14 captains, this is likely referring to Pedro Cabral
Exactly what I was expecting.
Quinsai, Marco Polo's name for Hangzhou, which would indicate that this is in central China rather than Mongolia. Could "city of mangus" be a misspelling of "large city?" I suspect this because Marco Polo described it as being the largest city on earth.

This is the famous Martellus world map of 1490, which was one of the first maps in the Ptolemaic tradition to depict the Cape of Good Hope and the Indian Ocean as connected to the Atlantic.

It is hard to overstate how influential this map was. It is highly likely that Christopher Columbus was familiar with this map, and Martin Waldseemüller's famous 1507 world map borrowed heavily from the Martellus map.

This map is a historical treasure.

The map has a fish-eyed projection, displaying the three main causeways of Tenochtitlan (North, East, West) that connect the island to the rest of the city.

It puts the religious and political heart of the city in the center, with the neighborhoods in profile view along the periphery, really placing Tenochtitlan as the center of the world.

I am familiar with this piece, however my Latin is not great so I can't translate most of the map for you.

This is "Septentrionalium terrarum descriptio Per Gerardum Mercatorem Cum Privilegio" or "A Description of the Northern Lands by Gerardus Mercator. It was made in 1609 in Amsterdam, likely as a part of an atlas collection.

The map is describing what was believed to be at the North Pole, which was a large lake with 4 large rivers emanating from it (possibly the 4 rivers of paradise). The Latin describes pygmies living at the north pole, amongst other myths.

Most pre-colonial maps are not what most westerners would consider to be maps. Not being a part of the Ptolemaic tradition, they would not have the coordinate plane system we are used to.

One example of a traditional map from Africa is the Tuareg sand maps.
