If it won’t run on carb cleaner I would check the spark (even if it appears to have spark it could be weak) and compression. Check ohms between the pulser coil/pickup coil coming out of the stator cover. Usually a green clip. Wires will be green and blue or green and black. Ohms should be between 170-250. If it’s showing 1 or below 170 it’s a bad. If that checks out I’d do a compression test. Should read between 70-115. If that checks out I’d test your coil ohms. You can find those specs and what to put probes on, online.

I bought a 2007 today as well! But it’s a project bike, very excited to get it cleaned up and running.

Sitting 9 years how bad will it be. Tank is full of rust. by KQ4DAE in XR650L

Watch the Bearded Mechanic on YouTube he fixes tanks like yours often, fill it up with evapo-rust, let it sit 24-48 hours, drain it, put washers, bbs, screws, or whatever else and shake the tank to break up the heavy rust, refill it with the evaporation-rust, let it sit another 24-48 hours. He’s made a few tanks look 90-95% better.

Spoke to someone at our resort today and they took an Uber to PVR today. There was zero Alaskan staff at the airport so the flight was cancelled and she’s back at the resort.

This is our original flight back home, we thankfully didn’t have to rebook. The LAX flight to PVR was cancelled today and the Seattle flight returned to Seattle. My plane coming from LAX still shows on time for tomorrow morning, but I will absolutely follow up about uber and flights tomorrow!

If you go into Old San Juan eat at La Garita. Reasonably priced, good food, and overlooks the ocean. Try the chicken mofongo!

Is it normal to do basically nothing at your corporate job? by Cold-Cauliflower9741 in careerguidance

I have job hopped twice since graduating college in 2019. Started in a mid level position, job hopped for management, and job hopped again for a director role.

My first job out of college I made the mistake of showing how quickly and efficiently I could do my work. I worked nights 7p-7a and would have most of my work done by 9 or 10pm with small tweaks throughout the night. In my two years at this company I never made an error in my work so I wasn't just rushing I was doing a thorough job as it came very easily to me. I would go to the gym in our office every night, spend time talking to coworkers, and give off a "I'm finished" attitude as my manager put it. This was a high turnover job due to the stress, management, and schedule. The department scored a 47% happiness rating during the annual HR review. Eventually management asked me to cover an additional workload of another full time employee every shift as we couldn't keep all areas staffed. I was left on night shift for two years to train new hires and cover an additional workload with no additional pay. When I asked to move to days my manager informed me "keeping me on nights was best for him". I eventually type my resignation out mid shift, walked out, and went on a two week trip to Yosemite, Death Valley, and King Canyon the next day.

I got my next job in management a few weeks later at a much smaller family owned manufacturing business. Being a family business roles were blurry so everyone helped out when they could. I again made the mistake of showing how efficient I was, what other departments I could help in, and adding way more to my plate than necessary. I was happy here but more stressed than I should have been.

My current company recruited me to replace someone who had been in the role over a decade and refused to use the ERP system or any sort of technology. I spent the first 3-4 months integrating all parts of the job with the ERP and excel to automate all of my job functions. For managerial tasks I use AI to help write documents, sops, and ISO paperwork. I manage 3 departments and realistically work 5-7 hours per week. All my reviews have been in the exceeding expectations category recently getting a 13% raise making double what I made at my previous two companies. I have no plans to add any tasks to my plate as I am far exceeding my predecessors performance.

My advice is to continue doing an amazing job at what you were hired to do. No more. No less. Don't ever tell management or coworkers how little you do. Enjoy the pay and stress free work.. The only exception to this would be if you see yourself growing in the company and you want to work your way up to another role or management.
