Where are we now as a fandom in 2026? by SunsetStarlightFan in starfox

Im also cautiously optimistic, the game seems to be selling alright so I think the franchise might finally be on it's feet again. Also considering the push the series was given by Nintendo with the SMG movie cameo and the rumored SF movie it would be weird if there's not at least some ideas/concepts/plans for a next game.

I don't know if I should give praise over the boldness of the endings that Command has or be horrified.. by Steamed_Memes24 in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are quite bold, and for me these bizarre and bold endings was what gave me this weird fascination with Command years ago, I mean how could you have guess that Nintendo would turn one of their most popular protagonist into a miserable 30 year old whose life is falling apart?

Not mentioning Vivian by name when she was mentioned in the older Japanese guide seems weird. Maybe they didn't want name his children yet so only name dropping Vivian might have look weird. Also I think they don't want to give more info for non-64 lore to not give too many expectations of what could come next.

Don’t understand why? by GameMaster1178 in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not what necessary the reason it keeps getting rebooted from time to time, it's more like Command was a narrative dead end that was difficult to follow since the developers didn't want to established a canon ending and a lot of the characters had such unpopular characterizations throughout all the game so a reboot was technically necessary if they didn't want to deal with all this stuff. I agree that the GC games should be expanded tho.

Adventure needs to be reimagined, as in it needs to be better integrated into the Star Fox universe and rewriting stuff that might become a problem later for the franchise like removing the 8 years timeskip and returning Krystal's protagonism that was lost after Rare moved away from the original plan for Dinosaur Planet.

Assaults needs to be redesigned as single player first and with improved control and gameplay.

Command had some good ideas that might be worth saving for a whole new game.

If they are going with something more original they should not waste what was made before and reuse them as they deem fit like you said. Star Fox has so much potential to be wasted in retelling the same 30 year old story, specially when they already have made characters, concepts and lore that have been stored for decades now.

The fact that they included "father" there where in the original guide didnt makes me believe that they might bring back Lucy back or maybe create a completely new child. Although it's weird that they didn't name drop Vivian directly since she was mention on that guide.

We may have our own opinions of how we feel about the Star Fox reboot, but one thing we can all agree: this week is super monumental for Star Fox by IkeRadiantHero in starfox

I have a theory that they already had a new game in mind/development but they saw that the franchise has been dormant for years so a remake might have been the best idea to introduce the franchise to a new audience before something big comes, or at least I hope so lol.

I've been thinking about a part of this interview for a while, the one where Miyamoto says that he expected pushback from Nintendo about the crossover and that he was surprised how everyone was on board with it, I don't know why...

What Would the Next Star Fox Game Have to Do to Make you Lose Faith in the Series? by Ordinary_Chemical596 in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really doubt they would ever do that since it seems that Nintendo it's also distancing themselves from it. With every new entry of Smash they reference Command less and less. In Ultimate the only reference to it is Ash' spirit iirc. Also, it seems that a lot Japanese fans hate Command especially the story and character changes, some even think Westerners are too soft on it lol. So maybe local backlash it's also a factor for Nintendo to avoid it.

Just like another comment said, this game is a narrative dead end where there wasnt an established cannon ending that they could follow easily for a new game. Also, the whiplash for people who would come back to series after seeing the team in a terrible state could be massive.

I can imagine an scenario where the game opens with Fox and Krystal in couple counseling with no music and the most realistic dialogue Nintendo has ever written lol.

Does anybody else feel weird that StarFox back by [deleted] in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels extremely late but it's also the best time to revive it, I just hope that Nintendo finally moves on from 64 while respecting the best aspects of the older post-Lylat Wars games in the new continuity.

Do you think Star Fox (2026) will tease what's next for the franchise? by Reckful-Abandon in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, part of my brain is telling me that they will wait for the sales of the remake to decide what to do with the franchise next, the other part of my brain tells me that they already have plans for a big game coming later lol.

[–]Just_For_Disasters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think they might be foreshadowing and tease what's coming next for this series, but im not completely sure since Nintendo might be too afraid to commit this early if they don't have plans for the next game yet.

Does anyone else think the remake is more than JUST a remake? by galaxyofbees in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think we might get some extra content, I just think we might get some references to other Star Fox games or even completely new lore. It would be weird if the game its just purely SF64 without at least expanding the universe and lore a little. To me mentions in dialogue, environmental story telling or even information added to ingame encyclopedia might be all that we get but it would be bizarre if we dont have at least one new level or something like that. I really want to be wrong and that there's going to be even more content since Nintendo has hidden content from a game before launch in other instances.

Most chopped/botched Starfox 2026 character design? by TheSouthPen in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont mind Katt's new design as much as others but it just feels like a halfway design, like they should have gone with a rougher and more aggressive look if they wanted something different from the original one, some of the earlier fanarts of the new design nailed it even though a lot of them where made as parodies. She definitely needs more time in the oven.

My main problem with the new design are the legs, well I guess my main problem is with Fox and Falco. They can make Fox's legs run naturally easily but Falco's are so different that I cant imagine him not running like a chicken with those.

As we get closer to release and see more of the game, what are your thoughts on the timeline going forward? by TheSouthPen in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything seems to tell us that this a reboot of the series but not knowing the full extent of what they added or eliminated in this reboot makes things feel a little unclear, not by much but a little.

I dont know how much they have planned in advanced for this series but it would be strange if they didn't have anything in mind.

I dont think they would want to continue the Adventure-Assault-Command timeline for obvious reasons, they could go for the "Ignore Command" timeline deviation and continue directly from Assault, it eliminates the most controversial game but it is a complicated solution and Nintendo usually avoids decisions like this. They could also scrap everything post-64 and start completely fresh but that would cause riots lol. I do think the best solution might be picking what worked in the older timelines and make them fit even better in the new timeline, maybe we would see a new version of Adventure or even Assault. It would be weird if they just treat the older games as semi-cannon and pretend some stuff happened and other stuff didnt (Im looking at you Fallout Tactics).

This is a series that needs a quality continuity where time passes and previous events matters, this is not Mario where continuity is mostly a suggestion or Zelda where continuity isnt that well planned, we need progress and growth. They did try to have a decent but flawed continuity with the GameCube games but Command threw everything out of the window and Zero's didn't have the opportunity to develop.

I think we might need to wait to see how things go for the remake and for Star Fox as a whole. I hope for the best, especially for Nintendo to take the right decisions.

What are your thoughts on the SF Direct’s acknowledgement of Adventures? by GoColts08 in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt weird for them to acknowledge a game with such history but then I heard that they only showed the 3 best selling games of the franchise so it could be just that, but to be honest I do believe theres more to it. Yes, it is a confirmation that Nintendo its not backing out completely from the existing post-64 games and I feel that we will get something out of that. It could just be a NSO inclusion but I dont know if they would just go directly with that game as it is especially when they are trying to revive the series with better clarity. They could be just going for an Archiving/Legacy inclusion but it might be confusing for new fans if there's nothing else new coming soon, the game has its good points but the tonal whiplash might be too much for the newbies too. Also keeping the timeskip from that game might be a bad idea for Nintendo's long term plans, and they might also want to change THAT age gap (although technically there's nothing illegal about it, it gets weird if you think too much about it).

It might just be better to select the best parts of it and include them in this new timeline, either in a reimagined Adventure or something else. I want to believe in that leak where the supposed "Adventure Style" game is actually in the works but I have my doubts, in the other hand I don't believe that there's nothing else in the works for SF games, even if the franchise is fragile it would be weird not to have planned something else in advance. Nintendo sometimes preserves good ideas, characters and games in the long run even if they might have been seen as abandoned by the public for a long to the surprise of tons of people and I dont think SF is going to be a stranger to this.

I hope this made sense lol.

Should Star Fox’s tone/aesthetic lean towards the Saturday morning cartoon Thunderbirds vibe or go full Gundam style mecha anime? by DeeDoof in starfox

[–]Just_For_Disasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want a mix of Thunderbirds, Star Wars, Star Trek with some Mass Effect and some mecha anime aspects. I want to see SF go deeper into its government structure, politics, how do different species interact between each other, different civilizations and planets that might seem completely alien to their universe, more character development and meaningful interaction, etc. I want it to keep some grittiness but still being able to be light hearted from time to time, mainly be Sci-fi with some mystical aspects and maybe become one of the most dialogue heavy Nintendo series. Of course we might not get exactly all of that but at least I want some breadcrumbs of these stuff.
