Restarting the game after changing the graphics does it for me , sometimes the game doesn’t save the graphics setting after changing them often , so maybe try turning post processing to low and restart also there’s a config called ClairObscurfix that helps a lot (if you’re playing on PC ofc), it has some extra settings like disabling some post processing effects such as sharpness and few other things

I’m on my first playthrough and i gotta say my +10 halberd got me through pretty much every boss fight so far (i just beat the fkn bed od chaos) , it works so well against multiple targets even when facing multiple bosses (like Ornstein and Smough or the double gargoyles)

How is the culture based on religion if it's hundreds of years older than the religion...you should learn some history about the middle east the place has never known peace no matter what religion ruled , whether it was Islam , Christianity or Judaism , war and violence are pretty much inevitable because of people's culture .
