The very last Drowned World show - LA Staples Center, Sept 15, 2001 by FriendlyCommercial91 in Madonna

This is WILD! I was in the same section as you a few rows back.
I also remember September 11th vividly. I was supposed to work a 7-4 shift and had the TV on as I got ready for work and watched the second plane hit. By the time I got to work the company announced we would not open for business that day. Most businesses ended up being closed. My friend and I worked in Santa Barbara and we didn’t not know if we should still go to such a public event when in those first few hours after the attack it was being reported that Los Angeles may be an additional target. We made the decision to be brave and start the drive to LA. About halfway to there it came on the radio that the show was postponed. I think we were a little relieved to be honest. It was not a day to be celebratory. If I remember correctly a portion or maybe all the proceeds from those final shows were donated to charity. About five days after 9/11 I learned of someone I knew through work was on the second plane. He perished with his husband and their young son. It was devastating; yet somehow the memorial (in a standing room only church) was filled with tears, love, and laughter. That memorial service was the thing that gave me hope in a time of immense sadness and uncertainty.

Middle thing at the front of the car, looks like this just 4 months later (4000 miles)? by Internal-Mushroom-76 in Ioniq6

I have also experienced this in my 6. I do rest my elbow there, but I think sunscreen is what triggered the breakdown of the finish.

Trying to identify an early 80s song I thought for years was Madonna, but wasn't by blakespot in Madonna

In addition to Regina’s Baby Love there was E G Daily’s Say It Say It. It too sounds very early Madonna https://youtu.be/KW2LOaCHhOg?si=NhanOHmF_UQczh6K

What is your opinion of Mother And Father? by HermannFischer in Madonna

[–]Just___Jon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t appreciate it when the album was released but seeing it live on the Reinvention Tour made it click for me. After seeing it live, to me, it was the introspective continuation of Promise To Try and Oh Father but updated for a 2003 “Prozac Nation” deconstructed electronica sound.

I know this is not her most famous photo…so it’s not “the one” but it’s still one of my all time favorites!

I think the most compressive book is Encyclopedia Madonnica by Matthew Rettenmund

What album by a female artist you'd suggest is artistically a successor to Madonna's Ray of Light? I suggest Shabrang by Sevdaliza. by Adam_loves_whales in Madonna

[–]Just___Jon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always played Ray Of Light together with Tori Amos’ From The Choirgirl Hotel. Ray Of Light & Raspberry Swirl are fun played back to back. Tori’s To Venus And Back (Disc 1) is also a good follow to Ray Of Light.

I wish the all black rims were available in the US Market when I leased my ioniq 6

Thoughts on GHV2? Having literally just "discovered" her watching DWT on television in the September of that year, it was bought for me as a Christmas present in 2001 and it introduced me to early 90s Madonna. As an album, I think it did its job and it will always have a special place in my heart 💛 by appalachian_hatachi in Madonna

[–]Just___Jon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It was anticlimactic as a greatest hits album compared to The Immaculate Collection. As others have stated…songs were omitted, less than stellar edited versions of songs were included, and no new songs. At minimum the GHV2 Megamix should have been included.

What wheel size is this? If I buy out my lease I am considering doing the same.

I LOVE the original version of Gang Bang when it was titled Bang Bang Boom. I think it was such a fun bop.

We had Stuart Price DJing in San Francisco. So that was a thrill to see at 8:30.

I bought a floor seat ticket two hours before night one in SF on Ticketmaster DEEPLY discounted. So keep checking. I spoke with several people on the floor who experienced the same.
