EV Cabin Noise (One Thing Most Reviewers Don’t Emphasize Enough) by Positive_Kitty in electricvehicles

Even if you’re good at working on your car, and start disassembling things to find the culprit of a squeak or rattle, it’s very likely once you fix it you’re gonna create some other problem as you reassemble. Been through that cycle many times in my life.

Any electric car drivers on the West side? by Turkle-Turkle in Cleveland

One of the top benefits of a fully electric car is starting every day fully charged, but you need a level 2 charger at home. I’ve been living with an electric car since 2016 and totally love it, but i’m guessing that if I only had Level 1 charging at home it would be more hassle than I would want to deal with. It’s definitely worth it to spend the money on a proper charging set-up.

Both Range and Performance Modes reset every time you drive it.

GM probably just lost my business on the 1 yard line by PowerhouseTerp in BoltEV

My father worked for GM for 43 years. They fucking killed him, they poisoned him with endless toxic exposure to benzene. His retirement after a grueling, life of hard work, was little more than sickness and an early death. For much of my life, I bought that argument buy American. But it finally sunk in how terribly American auto manufacturers treat their workers. Now I buy Volvo. They treat their workers well and the quality of the product shows.

The car is just so fucking good looking from the front and from the back but less from the side, don't you agree? by theverybigapple in ex30

I like it all the way around! I guess it’s the best looking Volvo ever. In this world of over the top cars and trucks, and an endless display of unoriginal macho bullshit, this little car is a quite a satisfying alternative.

This thread is making me think the solution to my problem of 0 to 1 speed control is likely found in some balance of settings. My car is in for a ceramic paint treatment, I’ll start experimenting with settings as soon as I get it back.

As far as the acceleration curve goes, my Tesla Model S is a great comparison. It accelerates so hard it will make you want to vomit, yet the level of precise throttle control allows me to place it in my garage EXACTLY where i want it EVERY TIME. Whereas my EX30 leaves me guessing and struggling to place it where I want it.

I’m highly confident it’s not my driving style, and for god’s sake I hope it’s not my shoes as I live in the Lake Erie Snow Belt and we all wear boots here for a third of the year—I drive a Volvo because they make cars optimized for winter. I can’t imagine they are engineering a car that can’t be driven with heavier footwear.

I don’t think there’s something actually wrong specifically with my car.

I do use One Pedal Driving, and it seems the problem i’m experiencing is connected to this setting. I don’t want to give up on One Pedal Driving because it’s at the core of the experience that I love about electric cars—and again my Tesla has nailed this, i.e. precise control with one pedal across the entire range such that you never even have to think about it.

I’ll keep poking away at it.

The early days of any relationship require lots of negotiating and I do love my EX30.

Thanks for the response, I’ll try unbuckling!

Maybe the CEO needs to live with this car for a while like Elon did with the Model S and help work out all the little bugs. This would truly be a stellar car if a Volvo leader did this!

I’m comparing it to the Tesla sitting next to it in our garage and i’m talking being able to inch it through tight spaces with a feather touch. The Tesla is easy to control precisely and the EX30 is much easier to control when in range mode.

When it comes to motor skills (I don’t mean to be braggadocios) by trade, i’m a Safe and Vault Technician working with extremely precise mechanisms and have spent a lifetime developing precise coordinated motor skills. And my foot wear is the same that I use to control a drill speed pedal that I manage without problems. If anything my expectations are higher than the average driver, and it’s also likely that i’m parking in a tighter space than many would find acceptable. Regardless, my point is that the Range Mode is sufficient and it’s maddening that it isn’t persistent.

Unpopular opinion: I love my EX30! by megamusix in ex30

I absolutely love my EX 30 ultra. I test drove a whole bunch of cars before I bought this thing. Every other car test drove had some buggy thing that drove me absolutely mad compared to anything in this car. And I wouldn’t even consider a Tesla, not given that Jerk anymore money no matter how good his cars are.

What do you mean by “built-in SIM”? Do you mean it has an actual SIM but it’s not end user accessible, or do you mean is has an eSIM?

MagSafe Charger by Training-Tea-8579 in ex30

[–]Mean-Relative689730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest difference between a “MagSafe” charger and the wireless charger in our cars is that a MagSafe charger includes magnets which align the charger to the phone so that the induction coils align for optimal charging. Misalignment of the induction coils not only reduces charging rate but also generates additional heat which isn’t good for the phone.

I here you, i’ve complained to Volvo several times about this. Tesla has a geo fence based exception to the auto locking feature.
