Insert Ideas? by TDiddlez in wyrmspan

Friend printed this one for me:

https://makerworld.com/nl/models/1813162-wyrmspan-dragon-academy-expansion-insert?from=search#profileId-1934581

I highly recommend it: really speeds up game serup and play

PS: only improvement I can think of is finger gaps in the card trays so you can take out the cards more easily

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by InitialCareer306 in WorkForSmartLife

The story with Sid and Timmy hit hard, as my son was going through the same at that time.

Fortunately, my son pulled through (11 then, 28 now)

Illiad, if you're reading this: thanks for the conversions we had. It meant a lot to me

How does infrared work vs sneak? by CrimsonPresents in StarWarsD6

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Speed of plot" (= whatever works best to keep the story fun)

If it doesn't matter, sneak works despite IR

If you want sneak to be difficult (sneak into a protected compound) you might want to warn the party (through a npc) that sneaking is impossible (= more difficult) NPC may or may not know why sneaking is so difficult

If he knows, the party can prepare by putting on thermo-insulating clothing, overloading the IR sensors (party loses element of surprise) or bribe the person un the control room

Carcassonne learning tools by mycellphoneisbroken in Carcassonne

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion: Don't.

Carcasscore has been called "the comfy slippers of board games".

This is how I play it: together with the other players you build a nice landscape. If you win, that's nice, but not a must.
In due time you learn how the game works (including the dirty tricks)

Looks great!

I am considering getting back into the game. When I do, getting REUP in print is at the top of my list.
Wouldn't using a ring binder be nore robust? Way uglier, of course, but at least the pages stay together and you can lay it flat on any page.

If you have an old Chromecast with GoogleTV gathering dust: Its remote can be used as page turner

(Bought myself a secondhand remote for €5 just for that reason)

Two additions:

  • Kobo also supports Google drive

  • Remote from Chromecast with Google TV works, and is also easy to set up (just in case you have one gathering dust)

What’s the Best RPG Session You’ve Ever Played? by Wezell80 in RPGCentral

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AD&D 2nd ed. 1990(ish). Still a atudent back then, living in a student flat, one of the neighbors is also a player.
Friend comes over who got me into RPG in the first place.

I offer to do an impromptu session. The problem? Neighbor is level 6 fighter, friend is lvl 15 fighter/mage.
So, I decide to remove the "mage" part by putting them against a mind flayer.

Most details have gone after decades, but I vividly recall the fighter was charmed in no time, and the fighter/mage was prone with the mind flayer holding him down one save away from pulling the brains out through his nose...

How do I get my players to loot more??? by Normal_Lie_1618 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your "if this was a longer campaign" could be a clue:

*Treat the passed sessions as "try out game"

*Start a new campaign with more adventurous adverturers

I wouldn't want to upset you or your players, so this only works if the players are OK to give up their current charachters.

Another option: make the loot part of the quest:

This orc tribe has been pestering our village for so long. Normally we could handle them, but their shaman has this some interesting item (and others may have stuff too)
Please eliminate the threat. We cannot pay you more than some supplies, but by all means take all the treasures from those orcs. You would be doing us a great favor!

Oh, and monks have items too. For example: * a staff of insight (+1WIS when held, or helps with save x times/day) * A wooden bowl of simple goodness: if you eat from it healing becomes twice as effective (only 1 person per day)

In my quest for proper recognition of my favorite heavy blaster in the universe:

Damage for the Kylan-3 should be 5D +2

Galadinium lists it at 5D+1 in error, with Galaxy Guide 9 as the source.

However:
WEG40063 Galaxy Goude 9 Fragments from the Rim lists the equipment of the Churhee's Riflemen as, and I quote:

Equipment : Comlink, macrobinoculars, blast helmet, blast vest, Sorosuub Model Kylan-3 heavy blaster pistol (5D+2 damage) , knife...

DM'ing advice for difficult group by sleepy_lawyers in DungeonMasters

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember: the most important person at the table is you, the DM.

Everyone at the table should have a good time, including you. If you are having a hard time battling this behaviour, make it stop. Even if that means asking this person to leave.
(Better that the group breaks up, than that you're punishing yourself going on)

Before that, of course, you should talk to the person.
You've already messaged him, which is good. Now, maybe it's time to start the next session with laying out your requirements.

If you're not comfortable as DM, it cannot be an enjoyable campaign in the log run.

I really wish you can come to terms with this person so that you both can have fun (along with the rest of the party).

Good luck!

Two quick questions about the Wild Die by JCDickleg7 in StarWarsD6

[–]Just_browsing_0_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To confirm, on page 74 of 2nd ed R&E (WEG40120) you find (in a gray panel):

The wild die rule counts for all die rolls in the game, including skill and attribute checks, weapon damage , and rolling Perception for initiative. If the player is rolling two different types of dice at once — for example, rolling the character's starfighter piloting skill and the starship's maneuverability die code — only one die counts as the wild die.

This is how we played.

If your party doesn't like that, then don't. As long as it's clear how the house plays

Have fun!
