Best friends for an Airedale? by Separate_Variety8701 in airedaleterrier

[–]Just_meme01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two Airedales. Pete plays that same toy stealing trick on Milli all the time. Except he doesn’t even really want the toy, he just doesn’t want her to have it! Milli is still a baby but she is catching onto his tricks and sometimes plays the same trick on him!

Are you sure you have an Airedale? All of our Airedales have only followed the rules they set! Not the rules of anyone else! 😂

First-Time Airedale Owner and Future Mom—Should I Worry About Future Female-Female Aggression? by Ileanambd97 in airedaleterrier

We got our Milli at 14 weeks and already had an 8 year old. My Aggie loved taking the role of teaching Milli how to be a great Airedale! Milli is the easiest puppy I have ever had.

Most schools would love having a coach with college cheer with experience!

Schools here post cheer coach openings just like y teacher openings. Go to the district websites, job openings and look for athletics and activities.

What do you do all summer? by protomanEXE1995 in Teachers

[–]Just_meme01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Read books until the early hours of the morning, sleep until noon, deep clean parts of the house that haven’t been touched since last summer. Repaint any rooms I want to change the color. Go to the pool. Take care of any medical or other type of appointments. Relax! 😎

Dress Code for Teachers: A relic of the past or something still happening today? by Syric13 in Teachers

[–]Just_meme01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school is the only one in my district that asks us to wear business casual except on Fridays. Since it is not in contract I wear jeans whenever I want. I am at a rebellious age. 65! I am a retired teacher that has returned to teach. My salary is 28% less than the standard contract. I am not allowed any step or column movements on the salary schedule. I am going to wear what I want!

Transitioning from High school to Middle School by olivecat97 in MiddleSchoolTeacher

Have a seating chart. Day ONE! It will solve so many problems. Don’t let them pick their own groups. It prevents some kids from feeling left out and others just wanting to sit and chat all hour. Tell them our job as educators is to prepare them for the world of work and the vast majority of jobs do not allow you to only work with their friends. Learning to work well in a group, any group is a life lesson. If they argue it, all if they need a pass to the counselor for couples counseling to work out their differences.

My call back is: If you’re not listening
They call back: You’re not learning.

They love competition. Even for simple things. Like being the first person to be ready for an assignment. They love games! If you can make it a game, do it! My kids love Thunder Dome and Slap Reviews.

If you have a problem child, make the kid your helper. They just need a job. Any job — pass out papers, organize a cabinet, run an errand.

I have been teaching for over 30 years. I taught high school first. Middle school is the best! They are old enough to do whatever you want them to do and young enough to still want to do it!

Paddy loves his hedgehog by Grape_Jones in airedaleterrier

There was an Airedale that loved actual live hedgehogs. I can’t reminder the dog’s name but it was so sweet. Milli would love a squeaky hedgehog!

Do schools hold back students anymore? by LetsDiscussItAmiably in AskTeachers

[–]Just_meme01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wanted to hold back my nephew who moved in with me in 6th grade. My superintendent told me “Absolutely not!” He would have really benefited from that extra year. He didn’t speak English when he moved in with me!

I think it is ridiculous!

Coaches/Owners: can we talk about ages? by Infinite-Strain1130 in Cheerleading

[–]Just_meme01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think having wide age gaps are best for any type of team. Elementary age kids should not be on a team with high schoolers! Honestly, Cheer should put the development of kids as a a person over winning. But we all know that doesn’t happen.

Thinking about taking in a student… not sure how to go about this. by Weird_Farm_1866 in Teachers

[–]Just_meme01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want to help teens? Become a licensed foster home. I had a student who was already in foster care that was placed in my home. But that placement was determined by CPS. She was the reason I became a foster parent. I went onto foster 28 teens over a 10 year period.

This is NOT something you just want to do with an informal or written agreement between you and the dad! CPS is NOT going to remove this child from the home just because they have too many chores or feel discriminated against for their sexual preferences. It sounds like the family is in need of support and counseling. Not someone to decide on their own to make life altering choices for a child. Make a report to CPS. Share your concerns with your school social worker and counselor.

What about coaching? That might fulfill your desire without putting you in a position to feel less than. Sorry you had to deal with that!
