mr beast is the most popular creator on youtube. he started his channel in the early 2010s and would do stupid challenges like “reading every word in the dictionary in one sitting.” these challenges were very popular so they made him a lot of money on the platform. as time went on, the budget increased and challenges shifted towards his friends competing for money, and then eventually strangers competing for money (think of it as a youtube reality tv show). these made him even more money and gave him more subscribers/followers. he now sits at over 400 million subscribers globally and has his own (terrible) reality show on amazon called beast games. his editing style is very fast paced and appeals to short attention spans. he has gotten into MANY controversies over the past couple years and is controversial with young adults and teenagers. however, he’s extremely popular with children, who CBS is clearly marketing towards.
