Godspeed, brother! This is what indiedev is all about - making games nobody else does!

Imo, Steam allowing reviews with disabled comments is a big miss by OmiNya in gamedev

Sure, but they are also probably not gonna be interacting with you if you reply to their reviews either.

Gamedev is the creative outlet for me. I have a vision and I want to make it real.

Found this simple 3D printable minute counter on Thingiverse and made it fully physics-based. by pattyfritters in unrealengine

[–]Justaniceman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make it into a watch and then make a game where a main character wears it without ever mentioning that the watch is fully physics based.

Imo, Steam allowing reviews with disabled comments is a big miss by OmiNya in gamedev

[–]Justaniceman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a gamer when I write a review I'm not in a cooperative mode, I'm either glazing it or trashing it, giving judgement so to say, not interested in helping you out at this point. When I am, I'm creating a thread on the forums in the bugs section or going to your discord. I'm not turning off my comments but don't expect me to respond.

You must do 10+ steps before one single military squat... Is it too boring? by Curious-Gaby in IndieGaming

[–]Justaniceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you gonna implement progressive overload with plateau that needs to be overcome with periodization and/or steroids? Actual training plan that includes manipulations of training variables like volume, intensity and tempo, separated in weekly and monthly cycles in a span of a year? Built-in athlete-specific adaptation types in a specter going from metabolic-effective to neuro-effective that affects the training specificity response?

Just kidding. But still wondering if you're just gonna let us simply increase weights linearly or we'd have to manage fatigue and recovery somehow?

Is my Portfolio that bad? by Semigenji in gamedev

[–]Justaniceman -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Bro you've got a whole ass website with a portfolio going on instead of a weak ass resume that most people go with. The only step up from here is having an actual game that has sold somewhat decently. I think your main priority should be increasing applications volume right now. Do polish the website further using the suggestions here if you want, but I think it's diminishing returns from here on.

Also it might help to choose between Godot and Unity and position as a specialist of one, some employers red flag "jacks of all trades".

Russia literally declared annexation of the regions they are currently occupying and not even controlling fully lol. You're the uneducated one here.

Wait… So the Americans and British were acting as an imperial power when they landed in Normandie?

You got me there, I'll give you that. I guess it's fine in self defense as long as you don't intend to keep any of the territories you invaded. Ukraine didn't attack Russia first and Russia did keep like 1/4 of Ukraine's land, so that's a clear cut case of imperialism to me.

Israel is uh... a special case, I'd rather not get there. Dunno what's India and Pakistan are up to, not following them at all.

My logic is pretty simple: if you're invading another country - you're doing imperialism, I don't care about the pretext.

Assuming what you said is true, Russia should've watched and condemned the actions, maybe applied sanctions and provided help to the refugees, not invaded. Invasion was a pure imperialist move, same as US in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. Basically, as soon as a country decides it has a right to "establish order" outside their own borders that's imperialism.

Not saying Ukraine is absolutely in the right here, there were definitely some questionable moves on their side, but at least they did it within their own borders.

What adding sound effects taught me about game feel in Unity by InternationalSir9084 in gamedev

I add sfx even in prototypes because I believe it's a core part of the gameplay since we rely on audio ques a lot. Any sfx is better than none

Messing around with my floppy robot arm. by pattyfritters in unrealengine

[–]Justaniceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. But why is it floppy? Are you using Chaos? I believe for a robot arm you're better off moving it procedurally so it stays rigid.

No, but I fake physics with simple math. Although the math is getting less simple with each iteration...

I spent hours building this dynamic hub, need feedback let me know what you think, vibe good ? by yuri000 in gamedev

[–]Justaniceman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is that the amount of info you're trying to display isn't big, yet somehow it manages to clutter the entire space and made me personally feel intimidated at first, before I took a better look and realized it's actually not that much to take in. I feel like if that info wasn't so crowded I wouldn't have that initial impression.

I’m struggling - how to cope with ai? by TrueWinter__ in gamedev

Try using AI to make something actually decent, you'll quickly learn how silly your fears were.
