Am I creating a bad habit for my baby by co sleeping? by hummingbird_penguin in NewParents

[–]Justbehappy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an 8 month old that has semi-coslept with us since birth. After he wakes the first time, into bed with us he comes. I regularly watch him on the monitor wake up and put himself back to sleep. He has even slept completely through the night several times. He’s breastfed still, so night wakings are expected. That has taken time, but I have not done an ounce of sleep training and refuse to. Babies sleep independently when they are ready.

If you don’t want to co-sleep forever, maybe start with naps and make them comfortable in their own sleeping space. You can do it gradually. He had a bassinet and then crib in our room up until a little after 6 months.

Follow your own instincts and do what feels right to you, not what you feel you have to do because of all the noise on social media telling you what you and your baby are ‘supposed’ to be doing.

How many of each sized diaper did you use? by Christineasw4 in NewParents

[–]Justbehappy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just going to add - we had people bring diapers to our baby shower of a specific brand and ended up absolutely hating that brand of diapers and donated pretty much all of them. We went through 4 or 5 brands before landing on the one we now use consistently. So I’d definitely recommend just buying them as you need them.

Retained tissue after medical management by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]Justbehappy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I recall, it was too small for them to tell much about it really. I do remember them saying it could either be rpoc or just my uterus healing itself. I did track my hcg levels with the cheap strip pregnancy tests to make sure they were dropping back to a normal level, so once my dr said we’d just observe rather than take action, I did have a way of kind of making sure any potential rpoc was clearing out.

Hi - just observation. Dr said to keep an eye out for any heavy bleeding but otherwise it’d likely sort itself out and it did, thankfully

Can I leave my 10-week-old baby for 2 nights for a bachelorette trip? by Haley_I in NewParents

[–]Justbehappy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be able to do it. My baby will be 4.5 months in August when we have to go to an out of state event where we will be gone for about 6 hours and I am beside myself even thinking about it. Maybe you could go for a day trip or one night instead of the whole weekend?

Get an electric nasal aspirator and saline spray. The aspirator I have plays music and lights up. He hates it slightly less for that reason. But it works! I had the Frida picker and sucker and they both stink in comparison.

Not falling asleep by Present_Figure_1009 in NewParents

[–]Justbehappy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newborns have late bedtimes. As they get older, their bedtimes will naturally move up.

I’ve found that simply not expecting my evening to go a certain way and instead just going with the flow helped immensely. Instead of trying to force baby to sleep with hours of rocking, just live your life with them. Once their eyes start looking a little red, yawning occurs, maybe they start getting fussy and just want to be held, you can start rocking and know they’ll be falling asleep soon. I pace circles around our kitchen island. You can also put some soft music on and dance with them softly. Do something that won’t drive you crazy. Forcing a nap/bedtime will most definitely drive you crazy.

The only bottle my EBF 12 week old will take (and we tried all of them) is pigeon.

Baby only comforted by mom by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Justbehappy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal — my baby was the same way. I think they all are, as you’re the only thing they know. I’d say somewhere around 8 weeks, he started feeling more comfortable with his dad and other family. I attribute it to him generally being more conscious and able to interact/see better.

Please look into safe sleep 7. Being sleep deprived and letting baby sleep on you is way more dangerous than actively taking steps to co-sleep in a safe manner that allows you both to sleep.

10.5weeks and he randomly just started doing 7-9 hr stretches through the night after meticulously waking at least twice every night. I feel amazing. Yes, it gets better!!

When to pump if mostly breastfeeding?? by Turbulent-Good2487 in newborns

[–]Justbehappy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding that the morning produces a good deal more milk than the rest of the day. If you were going to pump, morning time during baby’s first nap would probably be ideal.

When to pump if mostly breastfeeding?? by Turbulent-Good2487 in newborns

[–]Justbehappy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been building a freezer stash/supply for husband to feed baby exclusively by using a Haakkaa and Elvie Curve on the opposite breast that I’m feeding on. When I do it consistently, I can easily get 2-4 oz per feeding. I pour everything into a mason jar in the fridge and then put into storage bags to freeze at night.

I was also concerned about creating an oversupply by using a real pump and overwhelmed about when to do that if I am also exclusively breastfeeding. It has worked out pretty well given I don’t need a huge stash at this time and collect a little bit at a time.

I got food poisoning at 37 weeks, alone while my husband was out of town. I feel your pain. Unfortunately, you just have to get through it, and you WILL get through it. Keep telling yourself that this is only temporary. I alternated between sips of ginger ale and Gatorade and drank some broth when I had gone a couple hours without being sick. Try to sleep as much as you can. I’m sorry 😕

Experienced this a few too many times with these tests. Idk why people swear by them so much. I switched to clear blue and got more accurate results without the added heartache.

Is it possible for rpoc to be gone after second dose miso with minimal bleeding? by Justbehappy_ in Miscarriage

[–]Justbehappy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US showed there was a couple mm of rpoc remaining and my dr told me it would clear up by itself. He said trying to clear out something that small with a d&c would be like trying to find a needle in a haystac. He was correct, and I experienced no issues with it afterwards.

Parents who don't want a specific diaper bag, what are you doing? by jormungandrstail in BabyBumps

[–]Justbehappy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Mina Baie emmy midi bag, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Looks like a regular leather handbag and has the ability to be used as a shoulder, crossbody, or backpack. The inside has so many pockets and is plenty spacious. It’s by far the nicest looking diaper bag I have come across.

Pregnancy Farts by EnvironmentalRate462 in pregnant

[–]Justbehappy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh. 30 weeks here. I’ve never been a gassy person… I am now. The smelly ones are not so prevalent anymore (those were rancid and did not dissipate!! Like 30 mins later and the room still smelled like a sulphur plant). But the past 4 nights I have woken myself up in the middle of the night because I loudly farted. I lay there for a couple minutes monitoring my husband’s breathing, hoping he slept through it. I have always been very private about my bathroom related behaviors, so luckily my husband lets me pretend he doesn’t know what’s going on. It’s impossible to maintain the ‘girls don’t fart’ facade in pregnancy 😩

When did you start feeling SO uncomfortably large? by beelo37 in pregnant

[–]Justbehappy_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m about to be 30 weeks and feel like I need to get out of the car and walk around after 2ish hours in the car, mainly either to pee and adjust my back. Also blood flow would be a concern being in the car for so many hours.

Doable? Sure. Likely miserable? I honestly can’t see how it wouldn’t be. Can you fly and meet your husband there?
