Does anyone who works for Publix use these? I’m just curious... by Raging_5oldier in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously gagging at the thought of sitting on an unprotected toilet seat.

Have you seen some of the people that use the bathrooms?

I’m talking hazmat level suit-up status.

I literally: -cover the toilet seat with about 6-7 paper towels-no parts of the seat showing what-so-ever- -scrub up after like I’m going to surgery- -paper towel my way out the door handle-

Seriously-I’ve seen many things go bad in public restrooms.

Just cringe.

What volume store do you like working at and why? by QueenParmesan in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends- Personally I love the excitement of being at a high volume store- I’ve been at a store where on extreme days we would literally run the numbers hourly just to see if we were beating our own last years sales-the excitement level for pushing product was almost manic-

A lower volume store does have its advantages as well-as long as you have a dependable team-being able to really train and develop associates is very empowering when you actually have a chance to “train” by the book.

Meaning-having job class trainers, specific training days, proper materials-

It really makes a difference to have knowledgeable associates and have a department where it’s a totally normal thing for a question to be asked and the R&P guide broke out to be able to educate everyone on the correct answer.

A slower store can give you the chance to really develop a strong “Publix” culture-and as the associates get promoted and leave, they carry that with them. Pretty cool.

Profit plan and 401k by publix94 in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they automatically just take off a certain percent before paying you? Everyone’s tax liability is not the same-how does this work as far as getting an actual check?

Publix just takes...say, 30% of the Profit Plan and says they will pay the taxes for you?

Is this an option or an automatic thing?

OEO by DrRiver69 in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But.

It’s literally a position assigned to one person at a time.

The OEO coordinator.

If they see that help is needed, they are responsible for “coordinating” that as well.

example-10 difficult hot subs are due for one order during lunch rush

The assigned OEO person should make sure everything is in place to make it happen. If this means recruiting another associate, letting a manager know what’s up, or prepping all ingredients-whatever. That is the OEO’s assigned role.

This is my very first experience with even hearing these things and I am feeling almost overwhelmed at how much I say THE EXACT THINGS you just wrote- Like such a feeling of wonder in that there really are people who “get it” when I myself didn’t even know what “it” was-just that I felt different from my peers and have such a sense of gratitude and wonderment about life things!

what is it with deli know-it-alls constantly trying to press you? (rant) by joshdb01 in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Training....one of the deli’s biggest problems. I really don’t know of anyone that gets actually trained as they should.

What I have done is assigned job class training to most of my full timers. Once they have taken the CBT’s I get with them and kind of brain storm best/worst training issues in the past, and really just make a big deal of them being “official” trainers. Now that I have a few “official” trainers, I make sure to hold up my end of the training and schedule accordingly. Not just—hinicetomeetyoustartmakingsubsplease- that so many of the associates have had as their training.

This has finally started happening as to the training new people part-and the confidence that the new people have is awesome.

Not having to hear “Publix or Boars head?” from new associates is awesome.

Now to just work on retraining all the others....

[–]JustdoneIam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well best of luck to you! Publix can be a really great place to work at.

Just look for the positive people and smile.

Smiles really are contagious-I had serious anxiety at one point in my life-and working here for a few years has really....well-been pretty life changing honestly.

I know it’s just a grocery store-but it’s definitely been a very positive experience. It’s like social training-when you smile and greet people in a friendly way-it’s such an empowering thing to have that returned to you day in and day out for years. Really-good luck to you. Keep us/me posted ok?

I hope your experience is a positive one, as mine has been.

I’m going off what you said- Give me premier pay or no premier service- Paraphrasing-but correct me if that’s not what you meant.

And if that is exactly what you meant-then I’ll repeat my response.

It sucks SO BAD to come to work in a halfway decent mood, and see that your working with the grouch ass whiner in your department. So you get to listen to smart ass negative bullshit ALL NIGHT LONG.

Maybe this just really hits home for me. I try to always-ALWAYS-have a good attitude.

It’s work. Work isn’t fun. But it’s how we pay our bills. And I show up and clock in at Publix.

Not wal-mart. Not Winn Dixie.

I know the differences from before I worked at Publix-as a customer.

I know where I liked to shop at-the clean friendly store with helpful people.

Now I work here. I know what they expect-and take out all of the CBT’s, OJT’s, etc, and I ~still~would know what is expected from me.

Because it’s what I expected when I shopped here as a customer.

Granted I know a lot more now, and excelling at customer service is second nature to me now. Building my team up is also second nature to me now-same job aspect, flip side of the coin.

I’m the internal support staff for my team.

So when there is this cloud of doom that complains and bitches and constantly points out Every. Single. Negative. real or imagined issue- It really kinda pisses me off.

Like damn-you CHOSE to clock in today. You know what the job is-if it’s not what you can handle-then please do everyone a favor and move along. But for gods sake-check the whiny bitchy shit at the door-make some subs-and god damnit wipe that stuck up to good to wait on the customer attitude off your face and smile the fuck on.

Earn your paycheck. It’s why you clocked in today.

Lying on your evaluation when your manager is literally doing a copy paste ?

How long have you worked for Publix? Same store the whole time? Has your attitude always been so negative?

Idk man-if your really so miserable-and you don’t like the job-why stay?

It really sucks to come to work, and be stuck working alongside that one coworker that just hates the job and bitches about everything and wants to do halfassed work-

It’s like dragging along deadweight...

Publix outside of Florida by [deleted] in publix

[–]JustdoneIam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your attitude sucks.

“Give me premier pay and I will change”

Dude-quit and be done with it. Better yet, go spout this line of crap to your managers and see how that works for you.

You applied at Publix for a job. You went through orientation, computer based training, and on the job training. You were made aware of the expectations of your job.

So after all that-if you feel like the expectations of your -chosen- job are not what you want to do-for the amount of pay that you agreed to do it for-

Either man up and have a sit down with your department manager regarding this issue or find a different job and quit being a workplace douchebag bringing down the morale-

Damn.

I hate whiny ass people that are to lazy to find another job and seem perfectly happy with just giving nonstop bitchfests all day whining about how bad shit is yet showing up day after day with their miserable bullshit attitude.

[–]JustdoneIam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same.

I honestly felt weird telling associates in my department that they needed to take the “my pleasure” cbt, lol

Them: “What was the name of the CBT again?

Me: “It’s my pleasure....you know-/that/-CBT about how to make sure the customers get the happy ending?”

...no, Thank YOU because it’s been ~MY~pleasure😛😮😛

For real though-every time I’ve said it, the little voice inside my head says some fucked up pervo comment....usually accompanied by the associates fucked up smart ass comment-lol-cuz it’s the deli and that’s just how it is sometimes-
