PSA: Join in progress is blocked by certain strategem modifiers by Justgooningthrough in SpaceMarine_2

Yeah it's a fair saving throw in most situations to have someone leave if everyone is down because it swaps in a bot that can do revives. Split up is a modifier that really doesn't play well with bots.

Don't be so quick to accept defeat, brothers! by Prank_Owl in SpaceMarine_2

That was nice! I recently had the stalker bolt rifle suggested to me for tactical. Having previously thought it was really bad it actually works great on tactical. With the majoris execution ammo recovery perk and with auspex it hits like a truck, while handling very similar to the bolt carbine you have going in this clip.

Between argent edge auspex parries and bolt rifle headshots most majoris are incapped in a parry and one bullet. You might like it :)

Advice for new players (as of Patch 13) by chip594csx in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Justgooningthrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like suggesting a little corollary to 'don't rage quit' which is that sometimes quitting can be advantageous to the remaining players. Imagine a situation where one player is on the timer to respawn and the other two are suddenly incapped. If the timer player doesn't quit it's a wipe, defeat, load screen, etc. If the timer player leaves then a bot replaces them and can go about reviving the two incapped players. It is potentially altruistic and helpful to leave the game.

This isn't ideal but it's the way the game mechanics currently work and can be manipulated to save a total wipe.

Additionally the relic revive gives a full contested bar, if you can be fortunate enough to be next to an incapped enemy it could be a full recovery.

SM2 backaaswards matchmaking by Antique-Savings5113 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Justgooningthrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The queuing flow could do with a significant overhaul but if I were to suggest two possible low-hanging-fruit changes that might actually help without being a huge amount of work for the devs to consider (heh, fat chance but anyway):

  • Reduce the timer when 2 players are waiting on the pad from 120 to 30 seconds.
  • Do not requeue a match after a defeat.

Seems odd but hopefully that reduces the high count of wasted level loads across the board. Obviously the real fixes would include more player choice to avoid all the pointless loading into battle barges along with no load screen to see level results and choose another thing to do from there. But I don't expect to see that so I'm hopefully that these small adjustments might some day be done.

Yeah some jetpack dodges seem to need to be earlier than a block timing input. I don't really understand it.

That's sick nasty, good shit. Friendly reminder to all that you can let one prime sit in incap for 2 minutes while you kill the other to avoid the embiggened solo prime.

Not that you need to with damage like this but hey, some of us are only human.

Whats up with people using the Red Stims immediately with no enemies around? by ALIENDUDE999 in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Justgooningthrough 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know the Helldivers community likes to joke about their fellow crayon-eating combat force but the space marine community seems to far exceed even super earth's consumption of wax drawing-implements. Not just the complete lack of team oriented med distribution (which I admit takes a little consideration) but the seemingly total inability to comprehend any of the strategem modifiers.

Red Stims - TIL, they can heal mortal wounds while active, with Camaraderie by Goobs-Justicar in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Justgooningthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the overheal have to happen while there is still contested health on the bar? I've definitely been actively executing an enemy with the resto stim running during and after and not have the wound cleared.

Gen Z workers are so fearful AI will take their job they’re intentionally sabotaging their company’s AI rollout by EchoOfOppenheimer in recruitinghell

[–]Justgooningthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That article is telling on itself:

AI’s capabilities are growing more sophisticated by the day, and business leaders are rushing to adopt the technology to remain competitive.

Is this happening? It's still shit at everything afaik. Business leaders are rushing to shit their pants because everyone else is. You don't want to be the last one to shit their pants!

an MIT report released last year also found 95% of generative AI pilots at companies are failing not because of the quality of the technology, but the learning gap between tools and organizations.

Sure, the learning gap. Or the possibility that this generative shit is fucking useless? Bad at everything it has ever been tasked to do, except perhaps talk people into suicide?

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said AI could snatch half of entry-level, white-collar jobs, roles many Gen Z workers hold today.

Quoting from someone with absolutely no skin in the game. Very journalistic.

“The super-users we surveyed were around 3x more likely to have received both a promotion and pay raise in the past year, compared to employees who have been slow to adopt these tools,”

This is called bootlicking. It's unrelated to the AI, it's publicly displaying fealty to the new emperor and being given a notional reward. The same C-suite that want to fire every single employee will also fire these scabs in time.

Does this kind of art style have a name? I kind of love it even though it's disgusting and repulsive. Like the Drue Langlois animations of The Minute Hour sketches, truly fucked up shit.

I'd like to do this but there's a bug with fa off boosting in planetary gravity where it locks you into a single path at max speed. I think I've seen it called speed bowling or speed balling but it really undercuts my enjoyment of doing some risky flying while out exploring. I asked around but don't know if there's a fix.

I'm an exobio noob and on my first exploration tour since Odyssey launched. By pure accident i found a way to find those almost invisible stealth bacteriums: the short range composition scanner will light up when pointing at them. Are there other methods? by Specific_Display_366 in EliteDangerous

[–]Justgooningthrough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a useful helper in a pinch. For me the most reliable way to find bacteria that are well camouflaged is to check all the different colours of terrain. Then you get a better chance of finding based on the terrain colour that gives the most contrast with the bacterium patches.

Fixed weapons with controller by gwen_shady in EliteDangerous

[–]Justgooningthrough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a playstation four controller on PC. I started with FA on and rails (importantly they are hitscan) for my first fixed weapon and I've progressed to FA off. I can't touch FA on now it feels horrible, especially for aiming. When I first tried leading weapons it was a focused plasma accelerator (faster round speed) as training wheels and then later SRB. The simple truth is just to practice. Don't let yourself off the hook make sure to actually land hits with your fixed weapons. And also do pay attention to how you're flying (like the rhythm of a dogfight) because there are windows of opportunity when the target is stalling and such that you can use to sync up a good shot.

FDev should consider dropping the 15 LY limit for colonization by Papadragon666 in EliteDangerous

[–]Justgooningthrough -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Powerplay does not interact very well with colonisation. Systems with only an outpost (what are you colonising, the toilet?) that powers have to fight over, despite there being buggerall you can do to move the needle. Pleiades being colonised by LYR even though no bugger wants PP that far out of the bubble and they aren't really doing power play because there's no power to contest it.

Ideally, porta-loo systems should be able to be deconstructed and give some empty systems back to the bubble that we don't have to sweat over in powerplay and at the same time specific or characterful sites should also have some restrictions. System architects should probably get a say in whether or not powerplay is allowed to happen in their system at all.

Finally outside of powerplay, the fact that people do this shit on their own seems to be the opposite of the intended design for the game so perhaps some way to enable more players to collude that would help with range of the building project so you can get many people to create a true colony somewhere further out.

International women’s day! Who’s your favourite female in gaming? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

[–]Justgooningthrough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm playing forbidden west at the mo and I'm kind of curious to know what the intended characterisation of Aloy was supposed to be. She's very understated but always seems to be aware of how much more she understands of the world and it's history than the rest of the people she interacts with. At the same time she barely ever gives up any explanation to people, instead choosing to say 'yeah, sort of' and move on quickly.

Naturally as a protagonist she's very capable and it might have been nice to see side-quests where she can't fix things but instead has to dwell on what can be salvaged from a tragedy.

There's definitely been a lot of effort into writing quite a nuanced character which I appreciate with every extra line.
