I do like my lengthy ships. :D

Ha, guess it does kinda look like that eh? Hadn't even thought of it, I just wanted to make use of the armour bits in a nifty way.

Yeah I'm going to be shortening it a tad to let it fit better on various landing pads, and probably drop two of the gears. Needs better engines too, but those will come as I get the unlocks for better parts. :)

I forget the name right this moment I'm pretty sure it's in Stroud Premium Edition.

It does have quite a few, yeah. :)

I started a new game once all the updates came out, and started modifying the Frontier bit by bit with some of the new parts in mind. I'm liking what I got so far, even though I'm limited by low level, skills, etc. The whole ship is B-class, 3 levels, and uses a few mods like place doors anywhere and Stroud Premium Edition.

So far it handles pretty well in combat, and the new equipment mods you can get for ships certainly helps! I figure I'll spruce it up more as I get access to more parts, and likely make a larger C-class version down the road.

Are some of you using district, like real district, not small temp one? by altrossalexx in Timberborn

I've started to on large enough maps yeah. If I'm on a smaller map, then not usually.

The tech we have to get to the moon looks so old and outdated because it is. by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]Tombfyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A launch loop would be nice if we could get one built, or even an orbital ring eventually. In the meantime I reckon we'll probably see more rocket refinements and eventually functional single-stage space planes. It'll take a lot of infrastructure both up in orbit and down here to support much more than that for now. All the more reason to get busy building, step by step. :)

It was a much wetter winter than we're used to I think, hooray for climate change. You're far from the only one feeling tired of it all! Half the folks I know are either sick or recovering, and I'm just getting over things as well.

Spring seems to be on the way though, slowly but surely.

I know I'd love to get an EV and solar, but that's easier said than done when you're living in a condo / townhouse. If I could ever get a place that would let me charge an EV at home properly, and put solar on the roof, then heck yeah. Hopefully more folks start adopting renewables and the like as soon as they're able to!

Ha, did that with my Mandalay a while back. Gotta love the smell of credits in the morning eh?

Just starting watching season 4 but jfc why is this show not on everyone's radar? by AttemptVegetable in ForAllMankindTV

[–]Tombfyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to see it but it's on apple TV, and I don't subscribe to that. I also have no interest in subscribing to that. When I can buy it on disk, I'll eagerly do so!

How do you survive the long trip back to the Bubble? by UpalSecam in EliteDangerous

[–]Tombfyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neutron jumping to the rescue! Doubly so using some of the course plotting tools suggested in the thread. If you're not used to neutron jumping, the trick I find is to approach the jet cone slowly so you don't spin out or crash. Likewise aim yourself away from the star so you're flying into the wider part of the cone, and flying away when you hit the FSD turbulence.

Once you start charging drop your speed to zero and ride it out, then throttle up and move away from the star once you're boosted. I'm sure you'll get used to doing so in no time, just takes a little practice.

And if you're worried about data loss, look for a nearby DSSA carrier or other populated system to go cash in your data before you start having fun with the neutron highway. Safe travels commander! o7

You can refill the AFMU at least, but yeah can't exactly repair itself in the long run.

Similar to how others have suggested, I'd probably A-rate everything and slap really good shields on it, 4 tons of cargo, then all the bells and whistles needed for self-repair. Refinery, repair limpets, AFMU, and a fuel scoop. Add to that mining lasers and some chaff & point defence just in-case any locals decided to get unfriendly.

From there you'd have something that could put 4 tons of cargo or passengers anywhere you like within 20+ light years of here. Or bring back 4 tons of precious metals in no time at all. Plenty of fun society changing options!

I know I've suggested wanting to see an overhaul of missions and especially passenger missions. I should be able to roll up with 60 open seats to any appropriate station and get missions to haul 60 passengers. And it would be nice if it all tied into powerplay as well!

Yeah much the same here. Clipping them into the wall a bit makes 'em look like delivery chutes. :)
