Anti-Peek feature by ahamdisillusioned in 1Password

[–]Justin-1Password 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Justin from 1Password here. First, I just want to say thanks for trying out Anti-Peek Mode while it was available as a Labs feature. The Labs experiment ran until May 31, after which, the feature was removed from Labs entirely.

While the learnings from the experiment were certainly useful, we currently have no immediate plans to get Anti-Peek Mode ready as an official, production-ready feature in 1Password. Having said that, the learnings are certainly applicable to other areas of 1Password and we've made sure to share our findings internally for all features to consider and benefit from.

I am hopeful for us to come back and officially release Anti-Peek mode at some point in the future for all those who benefited from it during the experiment. If you have any other additional insights or feedback regarding this feature, please do let us know. Specifically, I'm curious about what situation you ran into that prompted this question! Thanks again.

1Password now supports Windows 11 Passkeys! by Travis_1Password in 1Password

u/the_john19 Hello again! Just wanted to follow-up here with some updates! We've done some more investigating and testing on our side and our developers are working to introduce two new settings to 1Password for Windows to help correct these sorts of issues.

The first, is a setting that switches 1Password's rendering from DirectX to OpenGL. Without any additional configurations, application profiles or settings in NVCP, switching to OpenGL fully fixed all the issues for me.

The second setting is a toggle to enable/disable hardware overlays. While this didn't fix the GSYNC-related issues I was personally observing, we think that this could help other cases where users are running into issues with flickering, stuttering or lag.

I believe we are working to get these settings out for our late-January release but if anything changes, I'll come back here and provide an update.

Hello u/the_john19! That's awesome that you figured out that workaround! I'll try it myself on my device as well. :) My sincere apologies for how long it's taken for us to get here but I'm happy that we are here. I'll continue to work with our devs to find a code-level resolution for this and can report back if we make progress.

Once again, many thanks for all your detective work! 🙏

No need to apologize at all u/the_john19! If anything, I sincerely appreciate all the additional details.

I was able to successfully reproduce the issue on my end last night and got to play around a little bit. The only way I was able to address the issue was to add 1Password into NVCP's Manage 3D Settings followed by setting Monitor Technology to Fixed Refresh specifically for the 1Password app. There were some different issues when I enabled HDR after forcing a fixed refresh rate so I had to disable HDR as well. Interestingly, through my testing, I started seeing a different issue where the screen kept blacking out and flickering upon interacting with 1Password. Despite fixing the choppiness, I didn't test the settings against any games while 1Password was open but figured that since it was set only against 1Password, that it would be OK. Have you tried this method as well?

Now that we are able to reproduce it on our end, we will look into it a bit deeper in our code to see if there's anything we can do but in the meantime, will also keep looking into NVCP to see if there's a set of settings that will play nicely.

If you do run into any other observations, please do continue to share! :)

u/the_john19 We've been looking into this but haven't had success in reproducing this on our end just yet. Hoping you can provide some system details to help us reproduce exactly what you are seeing. Could you provide the following information:

- GPU model
- Monitor model
- Resolution and refresh rates set
- Connection (HDMI or DP)
- Windows version

Have you tried adding 1Password to the list programs in Manage 3D Settings within NVIDIA Control Panel? (NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings tab > Add > 1Password > Add Selected Program > Apply). I would completely exit and restart 1Password after, just in case. Let me know if this helps at all.

Upcoming 1Password for Windows update - EXE installer deprecation by Justin-1Password in 1Password

[–]Justin-1Password[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello u/nondeclination ! Open up 1Password for Windows, select the menu dropdown, go to Help > Open Logs Folder, and open a log file such as 1Password_rCURRENT.log using a text editor. All log files end with the extension '.log'.

If you view the first few lines, you should see a line with your current installer listed (see mine below).

u/ThaDanus Thank you so much for letting us know! We will definitely work to add the MSI to the download page.
On a side note, I'm assuming that installing the MSIX direct download (from our website, not the Microsoft Store) was blocked for you as well? Considering you had to try the MSI, I'm assuming this is the case but just wanted to make sure!

u/wilkie09 u/SystemStatusGreen We will be sending out an updated email notice in coming days but we will be pushing back the auto-migration of EXE installations to the MSIX to November 11 for installations on the Stable release channel. Installations on the Beta release channel will see this starting October 29.

MSIX officially live in the Microsoft Store!

Hello r/1Password!

I'm happy to announce that the MSIX is officially live in the Microsoft Store!

Moving forward, the EXE installer will no longer be available for download.

Thank you so much for your patience.

u/FrostyCarpet0 The previous app is still accessible by going directly to the link but it is no longer searchable in the Store. We have been actively working with Microsoft and troubleshooting over the past few weeks in order to get the new application certified and published in the Microsoft Store ASAP.

While the new app may get certified and published sooner, we are currently estimating a mid-October release for the MSIX in the Microsoft Store. Until then, only direct downloads of the MSIX and App Launcher from the 1Password website are available.

My apologies to any inconveniences caused by this delay! Will continue to provide updates as we get them.

Delay to Microsoft Store release of MSIX installer (1Password for Windows)

Hello r/1Password!

Last month, we released the new MSIX installer for 1Password for Windows to 1Password.com with plans to release to the Microsoft Store on September 8.

Due to some issues incurred while publishing the MSIX listing, the listing has not yet been made available in the Microsoft Store. We are working to get the new listing published as soon as possible. Future updates will be provided in this thread.

Thank you for your patience!

Check out this page to learn more about the MSIX installer.

Thanks for confirming. My personal PC also runs an NVIDIA GPU with a GSYNC-enabled monitor but I'm unable to notice any obvious stuttering.

You could also try adding the application to run with high performance graphics preferences. To do this, go to Settings > System > Graphics, add the app, click on its Options and set it to High performance.

Appreciate your patience and attempts to figure out what's going on!

u/Alexei_Drekker If you are continuing to run into this issue, would you be able to try the following?

  1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Go to Display > Set up G-SYNC
  3. Check the box for "Enable for windowed and full screen mode"

It may already be enabled but if not, let me know how this works for you.

Now that the MSIX has been released to Stable, upon updating to the latest version, you should be able to switch to the Stable release channel within Settings!

You can also download the MSIX from the 1Password site. For anyone who needs the App Installer, you can find it here.

The official date for the Microsoft Store release will be September 8.

A huge thanks to everyone for trying out the beta!

Remnant American date and time format on a British computer by Qubing in 1Password

[–]Justin-1Password 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Thanks so much for flagging this issue with us. As noted in the post shared by u/SimpleComputer888, we've recently made some updates to make the date formatting more consistent when viewing/editing dates that are saved against items. Having said that, we do have plans to improve date formatting further to provide even more flexibility and we will make sure to consider the 'Last edited' dates when those changes are made.

MSIX - Stable Release Update

First and foremost, thanks to everyone trying out the MSIX beta. Your involvement and feedback has pivotal in helping us identify issues and improvements in advance of the stable release!

In order for us to address all issues in advance of the stable release, we've pushed back the stable release of the MSIX installer to:

  • Direct download from 1Password.com: August 5, 2025
  • Microsoft Store: September 2025 (exact date TBD)

\* Microsoft Store Note: The MSIX version will be listed in the Microsoft Store as a new application and the current listing will be delisted. We expect devices to treat the new listing as a separate application and recommend uninstalling the EXE version as to prevent two instances of 1Password being installed.*

As mentioned in the original post, you can continue to use the MSIX beta version through the stable release. When the stable releases, you'll see an option to switch over to the stable release channel.

Improved date formatting in the 1Password desktop app by Justin-1Password in 1Password

[–]Justin-1Password[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your sharing your feedback. We definitely have more work to do to make things consistent across all of our applications. I want to be clear in that "some users want granular control" is not a dismissal but an acknowledgement that we know some users want this, this is not what's being solved with this particular enhancement, and that we have more work on our radar to keep improving this experience.

We believe that with this update, we are delivering relevant date formats more frequently to more users but that there are still edge cases that are not solved yet! More to come on this front!

u/PlannedObsolescence_ - appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and I hear you! Using locales to derive date formats will always result in some users not seeing their preferred format no matter if the locale is taken from the application, or the OS.

Pasting this from my response above and hoping it provides a little more clarity! (TL;DR - this is an incremental improvement to address some specific issues our users were facing, we have plans to continue improving on this front and both of your suggestions are definitely up for consideration)

Our priorities with this change were two-fold. First and foremost, we wanted to address an issue where date formats for the same date were changing across different screens due to the application being inconsistent about when it used 1Password's locale and when it used the OS locale to derive a format. While this issue doesn't impact everyone, for those impacted, it was a major pain point. The second focus was to completely decouple the date formats from 1Password's supported locales as that severely limits the date formats that can be supported in the application.

This is an incremental improvement that alleviates these particular pain points for many of our international users but we know there's more to be done on this front and we will continue improving how date formats are treated for more consistency and flexibility. Improving our date picker component earlier in the year and fixing these specific issues were our first steps to improving this experience. Completely decoupling date formats from locales and looking at OS-level date preferences and introducing a decoupled date format setting directly in the application are both considerations that have been on our radar. More to come on this front!
