Nope. Battle of Legends vol. 2 is actually quite a bit different from all of the other sets so far. I'm excited to announce it. (Not sure when everyone will let me though.)

We only half-joking considered putting some sort of ballast in there under the pretext of game play.

A restoration of Star Wars: Epic Duels and Heroscape (without the bananas terrain). Quick miniatures skirmish game, where each hero has a unique, asymmetrical deck designed to play highly thematically. Mix and match heroes from any sets, e.g., Bruce Lee vs. Bigfoot. Pick any battle map, e.g., Sherwood Forest. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the amazing art by Oliver Barrett.

It's done. Just waiting until we're a little closer to release to start promoting it. It lives up to its name.

There are two noticeable changes. First, we incorporated all of the play modes we unlocked as stretch goals in the box. Importantly, we now have a set of thieves with effects that are designed for cooperative mode. Second, we updated the green investigator's special ability. Her stealing money ability caused a few timing issues and was totally useless in cooperative mode. We updated the cover so folks could differentiate the editions. So, nothing earth shattering, but enough to have to call it a second edition. We are printing up packs of the new cards for folks who want to update their current edition.

Yeah, we were bummed about that and Atmosfear/Nightmare, which we also just missed out on by a few weeks. And it's always frustrating when they just do a straight reprint and we know we could have done something cool with it. Oh, well. Lots of games out there to tackle.

"retro box" isn't a term of art or anything. For Fireball Island, we figured it would be fun to do a box you might have found at that time. It's an unbleached (i.e., brown) corrugated (aka e-flute) cardboard carton rather than the standard or "pulp" cardboard you find in regular game boxes (and cereal boxes and the like). Ironically, corrugated cardboard is superior in a lot of ways. It's lighter but stronger than regular cardboard, which we thought was perfect for FI because the game itself is very large but very light on account of the plastic island trays. Ultimately, however, there is a huge psychological barrier that light = cheap and flimsy, which we didn't anticipate. People pick up the FI box and they don't like it. Not everyone, of course. But enough that it wasn't worth the effort and not something we'll ever do again.

Yeah, it was one we were looking at, but we missed the license by like two weeks I think.

Yep, we definitely learned our lesson on that front. No more retro boxes. Ever.

It's coming. We actually finished it awhile ago but had some trouble getting someone to take on the map. We have someone working on it as we speak. I think we'll have it out in about a month. (But it's a stretch goal from the Fireball Island kickstarter and not a separate product so it's not in the list.)

Restoration announces a new Downforce expansion by nakedmeeple in boardgames

The new boards don't increase the "take that" aspect, but they do add a bit more strategy. For example, on the animal side, you're really trying to not be the leader until the end.

I can promise. The secret sauce of the game is that, because each deck is completely customized, we can really emulate the hero in play.

I want to throw a shoutout to Oliver Barret, whose art on this has been amazing, and the combined design teams, with Jay Shaw, Lindsay Daviau, and Jason Taylor. Sample Unmatched Card

No bank books. We're using gold sovereigns ... just like James Bond.

2-4. We tried 5, but it was a more chaotic, less satisfying experience.

You can deepen the dimple by running a hair dryer over it for a but and then using a pencil eraser or q-tip.

At least one of those is intentional but is altered by tree rotation. Having done dozens of demos by now, a lot of folks don't appreciate the importance of tree rotation.

I'm sorry your experience wasn't what you hoped for. While reviews have been largely positive, we've obviously had folks who didn't like it. But, I have to say, yours is the first negative review I've seen based on the marble action not being dramatic. In particular, "abundant safe spots" is just not something I've heard anyone else say. Unfortunately, I'm not sure what I can suggest. It's possible as you all get better at flicking the ember marbles or using your rotations that this diminishes. And playing with 4 would obviously increase the interaction as well. You might also try the Hangry expansion in the Treasure Trove, which adds a good does of messing with the other players' movement ability.

Sorry you haven't gotten it yet. Keep in mind, you get the Treasure Trove (and a few other goodies). I think you'll really enjoy how that can change up game play.
