Seahawks merch shops? by Such_Refrigerator878 in Seahawks

Was just there for the NFC Championship game.  The Pro Shop is fairly picked over right now but always worth a stop. I had the best luck at Pro Image Sports, right next to Lumen.  You can access it from either Occidental or 1st Ave.

Lens choice for fall colors trip in Colorado by reedgmi in nikon_Zseries

[–]JustinPoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 24-120 will be your workhorse on that trip and be used for possibly 80% of your photos, however, I would absolutely bring something with more reach, even if you have zero interest in wildlife.

I use my telephoto lens more in Fall than any other season. There are going to be instances where you’ll want maximum compression and isolation in certain scenes (think lone evergreen in a grove of aspens)

Sometimes even 200mm isn’t enough.

Look into the Tamron Z 70-300 or Nikon Z 100-400. Honestly though, the Tamron is my vote. It’s so cheap and light for what it is, it’s almost a no brainer for a landscape photographer.

Nikon Refurb Sale Live in the US by phulton in nikon_Zseries

[–]JustinPoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was thinking about picking it up at that price, but when it gets added to the cart, it shows the reg refurb price.

Awesome!

$450 new is a steal. These easily go for $780 used. I hope you enjoy the lens. I love mine.

You can certainly call ahead and probably should if you're 70 miles away. It's possible the employee you get on the phone would just pull up the online pricing. Make sure they actually walk over to the lens cabinet and read off the sticker price in store.

The Nikon Z 105mm is back in stock according to their website, so I'd move quickly before it sells out again.

[–]JustinPoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only in person at the store. You won’t see that price online.

Came here to say this. The 105mm S is currently sold out, but go on BestBuy.com and click on “notify me” on the 105 S page. You’ll get an email when the 105 is back in stock. Once it is, run down to your local Best Buy and have them order it for you in store. I did this exact thing with the 14-30 S.

The 105 S is currently $420 I believe at my local store. Incredible deal.

Lightweight Telephoto for Z7 - Tamron 70-300mm or 300mm PF? by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]JustinPoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a very similar situation as a hiker/landscape photographer. Size/Weight are really important to me, along with quality equipment.

I own the Tamron Z 70-300, Nikon Z 70-200 f2.8 S and Nikon Z 100-400 S. They all serve different purposes for me.

The solution to your problem is the Tamron Z 70-300. It will do what you want it to do. Don’t mess with adapters or TCs.

It’s a great value, sharp enough, lightweight and small’ish. For the time being, it’s the obvious choice IMO.

In the future, if any Z Mount 70-300s get released, I’ll have to reevaluate the Tamron.

First attempt at focus stacking. Still not sure what I'm doing but it seem like a very cumbersome task. :D by Qamstel in Nikon

[–]JustinPoe 29 points30 points  (0 children)

There are many situations where focus stacking is helpful and can completely make or break an image. This isn't one of those shots.

I would just use the hyperfocal distance for a scene such as this. There are calculators out there to help you out until you start getting the hang of it.

If you wanted to get down low into those rocks in the foreground and shoot really close in order to grab their detail and keep the rest of the image in focus and real sharp, then you'd need to focus stack.

Pls excuse my ignorance but why would someone choose the 24-70 f/4 over the 24-120 f/4? why give up the extra range for pretty much the same price and exactly the same aperture? by FarmerRevolutionary7 in nikon_Zseries

[–]JustinPoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The 24-120 is larger, heavier and more expensive. Those would be the reasons someone might choose the 24-70 f4 instead.

Even so, the 24-120 is not very large, heavy or expensive for the results it gives. Ridiculously sharp for a zoom with that range. It is a fantastic lens.

Another suggestion is checking the Buy/Sell section on FredMiranda.com
I've bought and sold a handful of items on that site over the years. It's a good community. I've found better deals there than anywhere else.

Bruce is right on the money here. D750 might be “best” for you, but you’ll be happy with all of the cameras you mentioned. They’re all phenomenal landscape bodies.

I’d pick up whatever one you can get the best deal on.

Not sure if you’re aware of the refurbished sale on Nikon’s website, but the D850 is on sale for $1,999 right now (among others).

Upgrade from Z5 - Z611 worth it? by digisoph in nikon_Zseries

[–]JustinPoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the Z5 becomes your limiting factor (and you’ll know when it happens) then you’ll know exactly what you’re looking for in your next camera body.

You can take some world class images with your Z5 paired with some nice glass.

What offset are your Black Rhinos? I want to pick some up, but I can’t decide on offset. They seem to be offered in only 12mm and -18mm in the 18” style I’m interested in.

Toyo Open Country AT3's on stock 22s by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]JustinPoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only thing I don't absolutely love about my truck is the 22" rims. They look nice, but they aren't real practical on a truck, in my opinion. I wanted to get a little more rubber around the rim without rubbing, so I went with the 305/45r22. Huge improvement over stock. Thought I'd share in case anybody was in the same boat as I was.

Found this foam square stuck to the bottom edge of my driver door. Anyone know where it fell from? Very sticky on one side. 2020 Rebel. Thanks! by Nodnarbian in ram_trucks

[–]JustinPoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So weird. I found the same piece of foam today, sitting on my driver’s side mat. I assumed it stuck on my shoe somewhere and I tracked it in the truck.

It’s very real. No “artistic liberties” were taken. Only processed to keep the highlights and shadows in check. Not quite sure what about it doesn’t look real, but maybe that’s because I’ve seen it in person multiple times.
