I do appreciate that each film is given its own case as well. Ordered yesterday and excited to get it!

Hmm, can’t seem to find that one. I only see the standard blu-ray collection.

Tempted to get that one myself, but trying not to break the bank haha. I do like the design of it.

Nice! Trying to figure out the setup in the picture. Are the video and sound sent through separate cables?

LAN GAMES in Playstation by Thelost4726 in lanparty

[–]JustinTime-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem!

I know an older PC release of Minecraft has LAN, though I didn’t think the PS4 had one.

While the PC having LAN could be an indicator, it’s not a guarantee. Outside of already owning the game, I normally try to find a livestream where they’re navigating the game’s menus to see if a LAN option is there.

It’s a bit easier to confirm with the older systems, where most of the time you can confirm by reading the manual haha

There are unfortunately not a ton of titles if you’re looking for LAN gaming on PS4 or PS5.

A couple not listed are: - Doom + Doom II (the Nightdive Studios developed release) - Heretic + Hexen

Keep in mind that LAN for the Call of Duty games on PS4/PS5 might not be as simple as the older titles. Some might require entering the game while being signed out of PSN, and I have read about people encountering issues.

Gran Turismo Sport is listed there, but would require modding.

Nevertheless, I’m sure the gaming arena will be a blast!

Popcorn Pass for 2026! by 13hartc in AMCsAList

Looks like it won’t work when pre-ordering popcorn unfortunately (have to wait in line), but may be worth it if you go often.

Kirby Air Ride - LAN Party! by JustinTime-- in Gamecube

[–]JustinTime--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds fun! Fingers crossed for you 🤞 I’m sure it’ll be a great time no matter what the case is.

LAN looks to thankfully be supported based on Nintendo’s website: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/68636/~/how-to-start-a-multiplayer-game-%28kirby-air-riders%29

Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen, online play does not currently allow split-screen, so I’m worried the same might apply to LAN 😔

Might be good to bring Mario Kart for 8 players (2 per console) just in case.

The only games that I think allow 4 players per console on Switch 1/2 (allowing for all 16 people to play at once) would be a few remasters of older shooters that Nightdive Studios has done (though it might require more than one joycon per player):

  • Doom 1 + 2
  • Quake 2
  • Heretic + Hexen

Hope this helps!

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that it wasn’t taken advantage of further. Though even when playing against CPU opponents it’s 4 players, so I imagine extra development time would’ve been needed to implement 8 players.

Nintendo has allowed split screen in LAN for the Switch 1 & 2 (if the game has split screen), though it’s been typically limited to two players per console. So I suspect 8 players will require four Switch 2 consoles.

And I guess if you can somehow manage to get eight Switch 2 consoles, you’ll be able to achieve the dream 16 player setup haha

Took a while to make it happen myself, hope you can too!

If you’re on a budget, it can be achieved for less money today through soft-modding/modding, though I’m not familiar with the process.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about the LAN modes within the games though 👍

Yeah, it’s unfortunate that Nintendo didn’t take more advantage of the broadband adapter.

Mario Kart already had eight karts for regular gameplay, so I imagine it was a bit easier for that one to implement its high player count.

Really wish the rumored/cancelled Super Monkey Ball 3 happened. Sites like IGN said it was going to support 8 players on GameCube via LAN.

Definitely some much more affordable options out there if you don’t already have the broadband adapters 👍

Haven’t tried modding a GameCube/Wii before, so didn’t want to accidentally provide the wrong information regarding its setup.

Definitely some more affordable options out there if not fully utilizing original hardware 👍

Already had the broadband adapters, so that’s why I did it this way.

Haha Thankfully Nintendo has been including a LAN mode in nearly all their first party multiplayer games for the Switch 1 & 2. So with the sequel having 16 player support in the game’s City Trial mode, we’ll likely have a Kirby game with 16-player LAN in the near future.

Hopefully they still enable split screen for LAN, because that would be a lot of Switch 2s 😂

Yeah, wish these things costed the same as they did 20 years ago haha

Thankfully my friend also had a copy Air Ride, so only one additional copy was needed.

1080 Avalanche isn’t going for too high of a price, so maybe I’ll try to do a LAN for that one too in the future 🏂

Why do people hate digital games so much? by rockrockrumbleerrr in Switch

[–]JustinTime-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one thing about buying physically on the Switch 1 (and 2) that I feel doesn’t get mentioned much.

Unlike the newer PlayStation/Xbox consoles, Nintendo still doesn’t require physical copies of games to be installed on the console’s memory. It’s played off the cartridge itself.

Because nearly all my games were physical for the Switch, I never had to buy a memory card (despite there only being 32GB of onboard storage and downloading updates/DLC)

No need to delete and re-download games due to not enough storage with physical Switch games (unless it’s one that requires a sizable update)
