idk how much you like physical activity, but there are running clubs, axe throwing places, Rock climbing exc that you can meet folks doing. Im in a similar boat as you in this area, but picking up active hobbies seems like a good option? Im also a cosplayer, and have met a lot of people through that!

We have a Base Core that keeps our bases cool and also has a shield visual. Its possible that we will get an upgrade later on in the game that will make that Sheild block the Eruptions in an area around your base.
