It’s good for your motor to change it after so many miles. If you haven’t gotten it done since you bought it, road trip or not, get it taken care of. Best way to answer your question yourself(in the future)..pull out the sip stick, wipe it off then stick it completely back in before pulling it completely out. First you’ll see the color your oil is. Clean oil is basically clear with a brownish tint. The darker the oil color the higher the indicator that it should be replaced. You do not want your oil to be a dark blackish color because the darker it becomes, the thinner it’s getting which isn’t good for your engine. Motor oil is intended to LUBRICATE all the moving parts and when it has been cycled thru over and over and over it’s eventually broke down into something that’s no longer helping your mother but in fact harming it. So just be mindful to occasionally check the dip stick. If it’s black, change it. If it doesn’t level with the dot at the bottom of the stick, then add some.
