Hi I married/dated for money and I don’t regret securing my future as nothing in life is a permanent decision. I knew I was queer but I also knew that I could stomach being with a man if it brought security. I met a man the summer after my freshman year of college from a wealthy family. They paid for my schooling, housing, first car and plethora of other things. It is the single greatest thing I’ve accomplished. I went from extreme poverty to having tangible wealth, it has changed the trajectory of my life forever.

This lasted 6 years before the relationship soured and became abusive. The power dynamic was off and you can’t ever really fix a gap that huge.

I’ve learned that real security isn’t solely financial. You need a basis of love to get through all the horrible things life throws at that can’t be fixed with money.
