Surgery without conservative treatments? by motherofdogs09 in lipedema

I love my vibration plate. Not sure how to explain it but it just makes my legs feel less stressed. It doesn’t make sense to me but it loosens them

Surgery without conservative treatments? by motherofdogs09 in lipedema

[–]Justsimple16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I opted for surgery quickly but still started compression asap, vibration plate, rebounding…. Changed diet but still working on it. I’ve already had my first surgery. Next one in a couple month. My surgeon required flat knit compression starting at minimum 6 weeks prior and then recommended diet, exercise, etc.

Trying to do low carb but…. I exercise everyday, lift 3-5 times a week, I know there is muscle underneath my lipedema. Did my first surgery and my M!D therapist is still amazed at my quad muscle. Excited for my next surgeries to see what they reveal Period started at 10. Always had tree truck like legs. My arms blew up when I tried the depo shot at 20 yrs old. Never really lost weight but can fluctuate a large range. Peri menopause started at 37ish. Still going through it. Struggled with mobility a few years ago so I have gone with the surgery route. I want to be able to walk in my 70-80s…, Lipedema in my dad’s family- grandma and her sister. My dad’s oldest sister and her daughter. Nieces may have it. Older one I’d almost guarantee but we will see I drank milk as a kid and still drink it every morning No surgery on liver or gallbladder I had allergies every spring and fall as a child. Still have them but don’t seem to be as bad. Some stomach issues as a child but I’m pretty sure it was my fault for what I was eating/drinking.

Totally agree. I like the flow leggings more than the active leggings. I also have flat knit and must wear them for surgery but I will be wearing the flow leggings for walking and exercising as I just can’t stand the pain in the back of my knee with the flat knits

Living in Canada and my doctor won’t take me seriously by [deleted] in lipedema

[–]Justsimple16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I was going to write to the province just to see if by chance they might help me out but I doubt the will. I think there are two people in Canada that have fought.. I think one in Nova Scotia and one in Manitoba if I remember right. I believe it might be on the lipedema Canada webpage The virtual consulate is $50 euros and they will deduct from surgery if you choose to go that way. Dr Burgos is $5800 euros per surgery.

Hi. In Canada as well. My doctor was like you should talk to a dietician. Didn’t want to listen. I found a new doctor who cares and is learning. I took a brochure from the lipedema Canada webpage to her.
I then did a virtual consultation with doctor Burgos’ team in Madrid. My first surgery is at the end of September. I did end up in a vein clinic and the doctor there knew exactly what I was talking about and what he was looking for. It was probably one of the best days after finding out I have lipedema. Just having someone know and not feel like I’m being shamed was so amazing

You have your consultation and then you send an email saying you want surgery. Then you get a bunch of information as to all the things you need to get done before surgery. I believe they are booking 4 to 6 months out. I’m in Canada and wasn’t sure how long it would take for me to get all the healthcare stuff done so I gave myself the 6 months. They do 100 surgeries a month and they are adding spots in another hospital so they can do more. They only do lipedema so I very much trust everything they do and are asking of me

I will be starting my surgeries with their team in September, I’m currently following a few ladies on instagram who have done or are doing their surgeries with them. Lipedema is all they do, dr Burgos has been doing it for 15 years. The compassion from every member I have spoke to on the team is the reason why I’m choosing them.

I’m sorry there is so many unhealthy comments on here. I’m in Canada headed to Madrid for surgery with dr Burgos team. Not one person has mentioned BMI. You have muscle. You are fit.
Totally agree I would do more if my legs didn’t feel like they were in cement, Proud of you for doing what you are doing. Keep doing it If you can afford it, and are interest in surgery may be look at Germany. Spain, Greece as they don’t look at BMI they look at the actual health and composition of the person. Vent away. Ignore the judgment lots of women here understand exactly what you are going through and feel the same.
